Accordingly, the South Korean Navy and Marine Corps will participate in the annual large-scale multinational exercise called Cobra Gold in Thailand to hone amphibious skills and participate in humanitarian assistance activities.

The exercise, co-hosted by Thailand and the United States, involves many other countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Japan, South Korean military officials said.

The multinational force will conduct a variety of field training events, including amphibious operations, special operations in the jungle and underwater.

The parties will also conduct cyber defense exercises in the form of remote participation via the naval forces' cyber warfare center.

In addition, the exercise also has the participation of China and India for the humanitarian assistance training category.

Cobra Gold, first held in 1982, focuses on training multinational forces in a series of procedures to stabilize a region embroiled in an armed conflict. South Korea joined as a full member in 2010.
