Russia has signed documents on the transfer of the two submarines Alexander III and Krasnoyarsk, built at Sevmash, to the fleet, RIA Novosti reported. The official flag-raising ceremony on the two ships will take place after December 10. The ships will be considered accepted into the fleet only after the St. Andrew's flag is raised.

Sevmash is building the nuclear submarine Emperor Alexander III under the Borey-A project. The ships of this series are equipped with 16 Bulava ballistic missiles and modern torpedoes.

The ship was launched in December 2022. In early November, the ship successfully launched a Bulava missile from the White Sea, hitting a target at the Kura training ground in Kamchatka.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Moscow is preparing to end testing of the submarine.

The Krasnoyarsk nuclear missile cruiser is the third submarine of Project 885M (Yasen-M). The ship was launched on July 30, 2021 and had its first trials in the White Sea on June 26, 2022.

The National Interest in a 2018 article ranked Russia's Borey nuclear submarines among the most dangerous weapons ever invented by mankind.
