Observation data shows that in 3 days, from 7:00 p.m. on July 27 to 7:00 p.m. on July 30, the Northern region had moderate to heavy rain; rainfall was generally from 100 - 150mm.

According to the National Hydro-Meteorological Agency, on July 31, in the mountainous and midland areas of the North, Quang Ninh will continue to have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain in some places, with common rainfall of 20 - 50mm, locally over 100mm in some places.

From the night of July 31 to August 2, in the Northwest and Viet Bac regions of the North, there will continue to be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing very heavy rain. Total rainfall will generally be 30 - 70mm, with some places experiencing over 200mm.

Deputy Director of the Department of Dykes and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) Vu Xuan Thanh said that heavy rains pose a risk of causing flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.

To proactively respond to heavy rains, the Department of Dykes and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control recommends that provinces and cities in the Northern region continue to strictly implement Official Dispatch No. 5378/BNN-DD of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Closely monitor forecasts and warnings of natural disasters, and proactively deploy response measures.

In addition, provinces and cities in the downstream of the Red River and Thai Binh River focus on implementing measures to ensure downstream safety when operating the Son La and Hoa Binh hydropower reservoirs; provinces and cities with level III to special dykes deploy measures to ensure the safety of the dyke system and respond to floods.
