Two daughters of a bank president sold up to 95 million shares

(NLDO)- If the sale is successful, the remaining shares held by the two daughters of the chairman at the bank will be 2.2% and 1.92% of charter capital, respectively.

On March 19, the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE) announced information about Ms. Trinh Mai Linh, daughter of Mr. Trinh Van Tuan, Chairman of Orient Commercial Joint Stock Bank (stock code: OCB ), registering to sell 50 million OCB shares for personal needs.

Registration period for sale is from March 21 to April 19 with the transaction method of negotiation or order matching through the floor.

At the same time, Ms. Trinh Mai Van, Mr. Tuan's daughter, also registered to sell 45 million OCB shares with the same transaction method and selling purpose as Ms. Trinh Mai Linh.

In total, the two daughters of the Chairman of Orient Commercial Bank registered to sell 95 million OCB shares.

If the sale is successful, Ms. Linh will still hold 55 million OCB shares and Ms. Van will still hold 47 million shares, equivalent to 2.2% and 1.92% of the bank's charter capital.

Provisionally calculating the closing price of OCB shares on the morning of March 19 at VND11,250/share, the value of the above 2 lots of shares is estimated at VND1,068 billion.

Mr. Tuan has another daughter, Ms. Trinh Thi Mai Anh, who is a member of the Board of Directors at OCB Bank, holding 72.5 million OCB shares (equivalent to 2.94%). Mr. Trinh Van Tuan is holding 109 million OCB shares (4.4%).

Regarding OCB, recently, the bank has had many changes in personnel.

Specifically, in January 2025, OCB announced that it had received a request to terminate the Labor Contract of Mr. Truong Dinh Long, Deputy General Director in charge of Operations, person in charge of bank administration, and person authorized to disclose information. The reason for requesting to terminate the Labor Contract was based on personal wishes.

At the end of November 2024, OCB also dismissed Mr. Truong Thanh Nam from the position of Deputy General Director from December 1, 2024. The reason for dismissal was based on Mr. Nam's personal wishes.

Regarding business performance, in the fourth quarter of 2024, OCB recorded VND 2,655 billion in net interest income, double that of the same period last year. Net profit from service activities also increased by 37.4% to VND 462.6 billion.

Excluding expenses, OCB reported pre-tax profit of VND1,453 billion, 6.5 times higher than the same period last year.

Despite positive results in the fourth quarter, OCB's total pre-tax profit for the whole year of 2024 decreased by 3.2% compared to 2023, reaching VND 4,006 billion, equivalent to 58.2% of the profit plan.
