Hanoi allows paragliding and golf course business at West Lake

Hanoi City regulates 10 types of services that are allowed to operate at West Lake, including: Business of transporting tourists by water: boats, canoes, jet skis, water bicycles... (no overnight accommodation); business of cultural, sports , tourism and performing arts services; business of golf courses on water; boating, canoeing, water bicycles, windsurfing, windsurfing; organizing traditional festival activities, boat racing competitions; swimming, diving activities; electric tire cars, bicycles, tourist cyclos on the walking routes around West Lake; water music performances; hot air balloons; paragliding.

The city also sets out requirements for environmental management (including wastewater, lake water and water levels, lake surface sanitation); air environment and waste, garbage; infrastructure, planning, construction and architecture.

The City People's Committee stipulates that all organizations and individuals engaged in production, business and service activities must implement measures to treat dust, exhaust gas and noise to meet environmental standards and minimize greenhouse gas emissions. Organizations and individuals that emit toxic exhaust gas, cause smoke, dust, noise and other factors that affect the environment, health and living conditions of surrounding communities will be handled according to current regulations.

The City assigned the People's Committee of Tay Ho District to be the focal point for comprehensive management, coordinating with city departments and branches to perform the task of managing and exploiting West Lake.

Previously, West Lake had some business services such as floating houses, yachts, pedal boats... In 2015, Hanoi City moved the inland waterway wharf at Thuy Khue, the intersection with Thanh Nien Street to Dam Bay in Nhat Tan Ward.

In early 2017, Hanoi requested to stop providing services, culture, sports, tourism , entertainment, aquaculture and exploitation of enterprises within the management scope of West Lake. Owners of tourist boats and floating houses must dismantle their vehicles and relocate. However, the relocation of all tourist boats from West Lake will not be completed until 2023.
