In recent years, thanks to accessing and effectively using loan capital from the Farmers' Support Fund (FSF) and the Social Policy Bank (PSB), many farmer families in Giap Lai commune, Thanh Son district have had the opportunity to invest in developing models suitable to local conditions, bringing economic efficiency to their families.
Thanks to the loan capital and support for breeding animals from the Farmers' Association, the commercial chicken farming model of Mr. Pham Thanh Tam in Zone 8, Giap Lai Commune, Thanh Son District has brought a stable income to his family.
Mr. Pham Thanh Tam's family in Zone 8, Giap Lai Commune is one of 9 members of the Chicken Raising Cooperative Group that benefits from the People's Committee Fund and supports breeding stock under the project "Application of microbial products in commercial chicken farming towards biosafety".
Talking to us, Mr. Tam shared: Previously, my family raised chickens on a small scale. In 2015, I started focusing on building a commercial chicken farming model. In 2020, I joined the Giap Lai Commune Commercial Chicken Farming Cooperative and borrowed 50 million VND from the Farmers' Association fund to develop the model. In 2022, I continued to receive support from the Commune Farmers' Association with 300 breeding chickens and over 500 kg of bran from the Central Association's project to expand the model. Up to now, I have built 8 coops with more than 10,000 chickens using the pillow farming method, bringing in an income of over 500 million VND/year.
Once a poor household, but thanks to the will to rise up and hard work, diligence in labor, plus the support of the Commune Farmers' Association to support a preferential loan from the Social Policy Bank of 50 million VND to invest in production, up to now, the family economy of Mr. Bui Van Toan in Zone 1 has been improving day by day. Mr. Toan shared: Previously, his family was a poor household, had many children, and did not have capital to invest in farming, so family life encountered many difficulties. In 2022, thanks to the loan support, my family invested in a model of growing eucalyptus, cassava, rice and raising a little bit of each, taking short-term to support long-term. Up to now, the model has also brought in an income of over 100 million VND/year, family life has gradually stabilized....
These are just the number of farmer members of Giap Lai commune who have been supported by the Farmers' Association to borrow preferential capital sources, helping members develop their economy. In addition, farmers in the whole commune are always united, share experiences, help each other to do business, typical of this movement are some models that bring high income such as member Dinh Van Cuong with a commercial chicken farming model with an income of 200 million VND/year, member Nguyen Thi Nhuong with a pig farming model with an income of 300 million VND/year, member Nguyen Duy Thanh, member Ha Duc Tu with afforestation and timber exploitation model, bringing in billions of VND in income, creating jobs for 5 to 7 workers with an income of 9 million VND/month.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Cuong - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Giap Lai commune said: The Farmers' Association of Giap Lai commune currently has 473 members, operating in 7 farmer branches and 1 cooperative group for raising commercial chickens. In order to create conditions to support members to access preferential loans such as: Farmers' Support Fund, loans from the Policy Bank to develop the economy, create jobs, and increase income. To help members escape poverty, the Farmers' Association of the commune has stood up to support members to borrow 300 million VND from the Farmers' Support Fund and over 4.9 billion VND from the Policy Bank; supplying over 16 tons of NPK fertilizer. In addition, the Association regularly provides information on the agricultural product market, advises members and farmers on agricultural product prices, product quality standards, technology products serving agricultural production, access to the e-commerce market, etc.
To date, 320 households have registered to compete in excellent production and business at all levels, and all households have complied with occupational safety and hygiene in production and livestock farming. A number of business households have actively signed commitments on food safety and hygiene. Thanks to that, the Association has helped many farmer members escape poverty, striving to reduce the poverty rate to 4.7% by the end of 2024.
