Can Tho Primary Education Achieves Many Positive Results, Promoting Digital Transformation

GD&TĐ - On August 29, the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho held a conference to summarize the 2024-2025 school year and deploy tasks for the 2025-2026 school year for primary education.

At the Conference, Ms. Tran Manh Thuy Trang, Head of Primary Education Department, Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City, evaluated the results of implementing tasks in the 2024-2025 school year and deployed key tasks in the 2025-2026 school year for Primary education.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Can Tho City has 488 primary schools; of which, there are 484 public schools and 4 non-public schools. In addition, there are 27 inter-level schools with primary level, 1 Center for supporting the development of inclusive education, 1 School for Children with Disabilities and 1 School for Children with Disabilities.

The whole city mobilized 257,161 students to attend classes; of which, 254,464 were public students; 2,697 were non-public students, with a total of 8,693 classes; an average of 29.58 students/class.

According to the assessment, in the past school year, Primary Education has achieved many outstanding results. In particular, educational institutions have done a good job of advising local Party committees and authorities in implementing the 2018 General Education Program.

The planning of the primary school network has been rearranged in a reasonable and suitable manner, making it easier for students to get to school. Facilities continue to be renovated, upgraded, and newly built...

In particular, the quality of teachers and educational managers is increasingly improved, meeting the requirements of management, educational innovation and implementation of the 2018 General Education Program.

100% of managers and teachers receive regular training. This is the premise for teachers to form teaching habits that are oriented towards developing students' qualities and abilities.

At the same time, the innovation of educational management has been promoted, with many positive changes. The leadership and management capacity of school managers, especially principals, has been gradually improved, clearly demonstrating creativity.

The application of information technology in educational management and administration and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to innovate teaching and learning methods have had significant changes, contributing to promoting the digital transformation plan in education.

Effectively implement STEM education and pilot digital citizenship skills education in accordance with the 2018 General Education Program in primary schools, in accordance with actual conditions and the response capacity of educational institutions.

The quality of mass education continues to improve. The rate of students completing the school year program is 98.83% (a slight increase compared to the previous year). The results of universal primary education are maintained sustainably. The quality of mass education continues to be maintained; the results of the student education movement still achieve high results.

However, Ms. Tran Manh Thuy Trang also pointed out some shortcomings and limitations of Primary Education. In particular, the main ones are the shortage of teachers; the lack of uniformity in investment in building school facilities; the rate of students dropping out of school and leaving the locality accounts for 0.38% (795 students); documents for grades 3, 4, 5 have not been printed yet...

Within the framework of the Conference, the City Department of Education and Training deployed documents on the field of education and training to implement two-level government; a number of primary schools reported on their discussions; delegates discussed many contents and proposed solutions to improve the quality of management, teaching and learning... for the new school year.
