World oil prices turn down
World oil prices fell slightly on August 29, 2025, after rising in the previous session. The downward pressure came from concerns that fuel demand in the US would cool down as the summer tourist season ended, while supplies from Russia to Hungary and Slovakia via the Druzhba pipeline were restored.
According to Oilprice at 4:30 a.m. (Vietnam time), Brent oil price was at 67.66 USD/barrel, down 0.37 USD, equivalent to 0.54%. WTI oil price also decreased 0.36 USD, down to 63.78 USD/barrel.
Domestic gasoline prices
On the afternoon of August 28, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance adjusted the retail price of gasoline. Accordingly:
E5 RON92 gasoline increased by 307 VND/liter, to 19,771 VND/liter.
RON95-III gasoline increased by VND271/liter, to VND20,363/liter.
Diesel 0.05S increased by 452 VND/liter, reaching 18,357 VND/liter.
Kerosene increased by 411 VND/liter, reaching 18,225 VND/liter.
Mazut oil 180CST 3.5S increased by 144 VND/kg, at 15,260 VND/kg.
In addition, from August 28, E10 gasoline has also been adjusted for the fourth time since its launch in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Hai Phong. The current price is VND20,080/liter, VND310 higher than E5 RON92 and VND280 lower than RON95-III.
Cause of change
Oil prices rose earlier as data showed U.S. crude inventories fell by 2.4 million barrels as of August 22, higher than the forecast of 1.9 million barrels. However, analysts said this weekend's Labor Day holiday would mark the end of the driving season, causing gasoline demand to gradually decline.
Hungarian oil company MOL and Slovakia's Economy Minister confirmed that oil supplies from Russia have been restored after disruptions caused by a Ukrainian attack.
