Gasoline price today August 27: World oil price drops more than 2%

After a sharp increase, Brent and WTI oil prices both fell more than 2% as investors worried about supply from Russia and US tariffs.

On the morning of August 27, the world oil market witnessed a correction session after a strong rebound of nearly 2% earlier. Investors returned to a cautious state when assessing the risk of supply disruption from Russia and new developments in the war in Ukraine.

According to Oilprice at 4:30 a.m. (Vietnam time), Brent crude oil price decreased by 1.56% to 67.73 USD/barrel. WTI crude oil also decreased by 1.71% to 63.69 USD/barrel. Experts said that the downward pressure comes from risk-off sentiment when global stocks go down and concerns about US sanctions against Russia.

Earlier, oil prices rose due to Ukraine's attacks on Russian energy facilities, affecting oil refining and export operations in Moscow. These developments raised concerns about local gasoline shortages in Russia. At the same time, the US left open the possibility of imposing additional sanctions if the two sides failed to make progress on peace .

Some experts predict that in the medium term, Brent oil prices may fluctuate around 65-74 USD/barrel. In addition to the war factor, investors are also paying attention to the US plan to impose a 50% tax on Indian goods because this country still imports Russian oil, making the market even more tense.

Domestic gasoline prices on August 27

Domestically, retail gasoline prices continue to be applied according to the August 21 operating period. The price of E5 RON92 gasoline is currently at VND19,464/liter, RON95-III at VND20,092/liter. In contrast, oil products decreased: diesel oil VND17,905/liter, kerosene VND17,814/liter and fuel oil VND15,116/kg.
