This is a record high in the history of gold prices. The difference between the buying and selling price of gold bars at SJC decreased to 1.2 million VND instead of 1.5 million VND/tael as in the middle of the week.

Similarly, gold rings also remained at a record high, with SJC Company buying at 117.3 million VND and selling at 119.8 million VND; Phu Nhuan Jewelry Company (PNJ) buying at 117.5 million VND and selling at 120 million VND; Doji Group buying at 117.5 million VND and selling at 120 million VND; Bao Tin Minh Chau buying at 117.8 million VND and selling at 120.8 million VND... The difference in buying and selling prices of gold rings was maintained at 2.5 - 3 million VND/tael.

The world gold price maintained its upward trend to 3,397.6 USD/ounce, 12 USD higher than yesterday. Converted according to Vietcombank exchange rate, the world gold price is equivalent to 108.1 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Currently, each tael of SJC gold is still 16.3 million VND more expensive than the world price.

Precious metals surged as the market worried about the US imposing tariffs on gold bars imported from Switzerland. The Swiss Precious Metals Association warned yesterday that the US tariffs “could have a negative impact on the international flow of physical gold.” Christoph Wild, president of the Swiss Precious Metals Association, said the group was particularly concerned about the impact of the tariffs on the gold industry and physical gold trading with the US, a long-standing and traditional partner of Switzerland.

Previously, US President Donald Trump imposed a 39% tax on imports from Switzerland to the US. The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that 1 kg gold bars are not exempt from tax. Switzerland is the world's largest gold refining country. The Swiss Precious Metals Association said that this tax does not only apply to Switzerland but to all 1 kg gold bars imported into the US from any country.../.
