'Military clean vegetables': Connecting the army and people

In early 2023, the small-scale project model "Military-civilian water hydrant" of the officers and soldiers of the permanent militia of Chau Thanh district (formerly Tay Ninh province) was implemented, aiming to share cool bottles of water to passersby and people in the stationed area, along with some of the unit's production products.

Seeing the humane meaning and practical effectiveness of the activity, the Party Committee and Military Command of Tay Ninh province directed units in the entire armed forces of the province to study and replicate the model. Since then, the model of "Military-civilian water column" has been renamed the model of "Military clean vegetables". Accordingly, the increased production products and necessities produced or mobilized by the unit are donated to people in difficult circumstances in the stationed area.

In recent times, the Youth Union of the Defense Command of Region 3 - Tan Ninh has actively responded and effectively implemented the model. On average, each month, the Youth Union and its affiliated Youth Unions organize 8 vegetable donation points with about 1 ton of vegetables, tubers, and fruits of all kinds; total value of about 10 million VND.

Warm military-civilian relationship from the "Military Clean Vegetables" model

Private Tran Hoai Suong, Platoon 1, Company 5, Defense Command of Region 3 - Tan Ninh shared that he was very happy to join the Youth Union in implementing the model of "Military Clean Vegetables". Thereby, contributing to strengthening the relationship between the army and the people in the stationed area, true to the saying "When you go, the people miss you, when you stay, the people love you".

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Cuc (residing in Thanh Nam hamlet, Tan Bien commune, Tay Ninh province) said: “The bundles of vegetables not only help me have a delicious and safe meal, I also feel the affection and sincere care of the soldiers for people in difficult circumstances. This is truly a meaningful and heartwarming gift.”

The Youth Union of the Defense Command of Region 3 - Tan Ninh also proactively coordinated with local political and social organizations such as Thanh Binh Commune Youth Union and Tra Vong Commune Youth Union to spread the "Military Clean Vegetable" model. After nearly 3 years of operation, more than 35 tons of vegetables, tubers and fruits from the model have been donated to the people.

Each bunch of vegetables is carefully cared for by officers and soldiers to give to the people.

“This is a practical activity with great influence, not only contributing to promoting the image of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers” in the new period, but also an opportunity for local youth union members and armed forces stationed in the area to strengthen the relationship of coordination and mutual support for the benefit of the community” - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Thanh Binh commune Khuu Trong Nghia expressed.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Hoan - Deputy Political Commissar of the Defense Command of Region 3 - Tan Ninh affirmed: "The model is simple but very meaningful and practical, responding to the emulation movement "Joining hands for the poor - Leaving no one behind". Thereby, not only helping people have more clean vegetables for their daily meals, but also showing solidarity and sharing difficulties with the people"./.
