Gold price today August 1: Domestically stable but still nearly 17 million more expensive than the world

Domestic gold bar prices remain stable but are still much more expensive than world prices.

On the morning of August 1, the world gold price was almost around 3,287 USD/ounce like yesterday morning. Converted according to Vietcombank exchange rate, the world gold price is equivalent to 104.5 million VND/tael (excluding tax and fees). Domestically, the gold bar price at Saigon Jewelry Company - SJC remained the same as the end of yesterday when buying at 119.9 million VND/tael, selling at 121.4 million VND. Currently, each tael of SJC gold bar is 16.9 million VND more expensive than the world price.

Similarly, SJC Company continued to buy gold rings at 114.6 million VND and sell at 117.1 million VND; Phu Nhuan Jewelry Company bought gold rings at 115.1 million VND and sold at 118.1 million VND; Doji Company increased by 200,000 VND when buying at 116 million VND and selling at 118.5 million VND...

The US core personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index, which strips out volatile food and energy prices, rose 0.3% in June, as economists had expected. That was up from a 0.2% increase in May. The core PCE rose 2.8% year-over-year, beating the 2.7% forecast by economists. The US Federal Reserve (Fed) preferred inflation gauge. The June PCE index showed prices rising faster amid tariff uncertainty. The data was released shortly after the Fed decided to keep interest rates steady at its July meeting.

In addition, yesterday, the White House announced that President Donald Trump will maintain a minimum reciprocal tariff of 10%, while imports from partners with a trade surplus with the US will face a tariff of 15% or higher. The White House also separately announced a list of tariffs on imports from a series of trading partners that have not yet completed an agreement with the US, such as India at 25%, Taiwanese goods will be subject to a tariff of 20%, Switzerland at 39%.../.
