Domestic pepper price
Pepper prices today in key growing areas increased sharply, reaching an important milestone of 150,000 VND/kg. Thereby, the domestic pepper price level is from 147,600 VND/kg to 150,000 VND/kg.
In the Central Highlands region, pepper price today in Dak Lak increased sharply by 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently at 150,000 VND/kg.
Pepper price today in Gia Lai increased by 1,600 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently at 147,600 VND/kg.
Pepper price today in Lam Dong (old Dak Nong ) increased by 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently at 150,000 VND/kg.
In the Southeast region, pepper price today in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau) is currently at 148,000 VND/kg, an increase of 2000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Dong Nai increased by 2000 VND/kg compared to yesterday at 148,000 VND/kg.
In addition, pepper price today in Dong Nai (former Binh Phuoc) increased by 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently at 148,000 VND/kg.
Domestic pepper prices continued to increase thanks to a number of positive factors. Domestic supply has begun to be limited as the harvest is about to end, while demand from processing and exporting enterprises has also increased after a period of stagnation. In addition, pepper prices in India and Brazil have shown signs of a slight increase, dragging down domestic prices.
According to Mr. Hoang Phuoc Binh, Permanent Vice President and General Secretary of the Chu Se Pepper Association (Gia Lai), the current cost of pepper production ranges from 70,000 to 80,000 VND/kg.
Compared to before, the current selling price has brought more attractive profits to farmers, encouraging them to return to pepper cultivation. However, according to Mr. Binh, the number of households planting new or replanting is very small and insignificant. Every year, the rate of pepper plants dying naturally in gardens is about 5-7%, and the area of new planting is still lower than this number.
On the export side, orders from the European and American markets are gradually improving after many months of interruption. International freight rates are also more stable, helping Vietnamese pepper maintain its competitiveness. Notably, many international customers are willing to accept higher prices due to concerns about supply shortages at the end of the year.
With an average price of nearly VND149,000/kg, many farmers have begun to make significant profits compared to the beginning of the year when the price was just below VND130,000/kg. However, experts still advise farmers to be cautious with unpredictable market fluctuations, because pepper prices depend largely on the global situation and domestic supply and demand.
In the short term, the outlook for pepper prices is considered positive as supply continues to shrink and the export market shows signs of recovery. If international demand remains stable, the possibility of domestic prices exceeding VND150,000/kg in the near future is entirely possible.
