Pepper prices today in key growing areas continued to decrease sharply compared to yesterday. Thereby, the domestic pepper price level is from 134,500 VND/kg to 136,000 VND/kg.

In the Central Highlands region, pepper price today in Dak Lak decreased sharply by 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently at 136,000 VND/kg.

Pepper price today in Gia Lai decreased by 2,500 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently at 134,500 VND/kg.

Pepper price today in Dak Nong decreased by 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently at 136,000 VND/kg.

In the Southeast region, pepper price today in Ba Ria - Vung Tau is currently at 135,000 VND/kg, down 2000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Dong Nai decreased 2000 VND/kg compared to yesterday at 135,000 VND/kg.

In addition, pepper price today in Binh Phuoc decreased by 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently at 135,000 VND/kg.

Pepper price today June 17, 2025: Sharp decrease domestically

Although countries such as Indonesia, India and Brazil are also major pepper producers, Vietnam still dominates exports. Therefore, the farming decisions of Vietnamese farmers have a major impact on the global supply-demand balance.

Although production in Brazil and Vietnam is expected to recover slightly in 2024 and the first half of 2025, farmers are still facing many challenges, especially climate change and erratic weather, which seriously affect the cultivation cycle and product quality.

In addition, the reciprocal tariffs that the US is about to apply from July 9, 2025 will be a worrying factor. In particular, Vietnam may face a tax rate of up to 46%, an alarming figure that could increase import costs and push black pepper prices in the US market even higher.

If conditions do not improve, global consumers may have to pay more for black pepper products in the coming period.

Pepper price today June 17 in the world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of pepper of all types traded in the international market on June 16 (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices decreased slightly compared to yesterday at USD 7,499/ton (down 0.01%). In addition, Muntok white pepper prices also decreased slightly compared to yesterday at USD 10,130/ton (down 0.01%).

Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,175/mt.

Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,100/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $11,850/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 6,300 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,400 USD/ton.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,300/ton.

Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, especially after Israel's attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, are expected to be the focus of major impacts on the global commodity market this week, including pepper.

Along with that, trade negotiations between the US and key partners are also being closely monitored by investors to assess market prospects in the coming time.

However, the current pressing issue is not only political but also the reality of the global shortage of pepper supply. Combined with changes in US tariff policies, consumers are likely to soon face a sharp increase in prices of black pepper-related products.

According to Ms. Laura Shumow - Executive Director of the American Spice Trade Association (ASTA), the root cause of this situation is the serious decline in black pepper production in Vietnam. After the period of sharp decline in pepper prices in 2018 due to oversupply, many farmers in Vietnam abandoned pepper cultivation to switch to other crops with more stable profits.
