Pepper price today July 15: Slight decrease across the board

Despite a slight decrease today, domestic pepper prices are still considered high compared to the same period last year. Experts consider this a healthy adjustment in the long-term upward trend of the market. If exports continue to be positive, pepper prices are expected to rebound to the range of 142,000 - 145,000 VND/kg by the end of July.

In the first 6 months of this year, Vietnam exported about 137,000 tons of pepper, earning 556 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, output decreased by more than 14%, but turnover increased by 5.3% thanks to improved export prices. Notably, in the past week alone, pepper export prices increased by 200 USD/ton, largely due to the positive impact of the high tax policy that the US imposed on pepper from Brazil and Indonesia.

Given the favorable price developments, experts recommend that farmers should proactively time their sales according to each price increase to avoid losses caused by dumping. For businesses, investing in traceability, controlling chemical residues and upgrading processing technology is essential to meet the requirements of demanding markets such as the US, EU and Japan.

If the current recovery momentum is maintained, analysts predict that pepper prices could reach VND160,000/kg by early 2026. This will be a sign that the Vietnamese pepper industry is entering a new and more sustainable growth cycle.

Pepper price today July 15 in the world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of all types of pepper traded in the international market on July 12 (Hanoi time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $7,393/ton. In addition, Muntok white pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $10,177/ton.

Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price remained unchanged from yesterday at USD 6,225/ton.

Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $8,900/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price remained stable from yesterday at $11,750/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam are stable compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l is 6,440 USD/ton; 550 gr/l is 6,570 USD/ton.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,150/ton.

Currently, Vietnam's pepper export price is still lower than that of Malaysia and Indonesia, but is gradually narrowing the gap with Brazil. The US's increase in tariffs on goods from Brazil is creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese pepper to gain deeper access to the US market.

According to data from the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), as of early July, Vietnam's pepper exports to the US increased by 14% compared to the same period in 2024. This is a positive signal in the context of many fluctuations in the global market.

Several export businesses in Ho Chi Minh City said they are negotiating large orders for August and September. Although there are no specific figures yet, pepper prices on export lists are showing an upward trend. If these deals are signed soon, domestic pepper prices may rebound this week.
