In the first 6 months of the year, GDP increased by 7.52%, the highest level of the first 6 months in the period 2011 - 2025.

The industrial, construction and service sectors still account for the highest proportion, supporting the economy.

In the industrial and construction sector, the industry maintains its growth momentum, with some key products increasing quite well, meeting the demand for new orders from businesses. The added value of the entire industry in the first 6 months increased by 8.07% over the same period last year, only lower than the 8.89% increase in the same period in 2022 in the period 2020 - 2025.

The service sector, foreign trade, transportation and tourism activities increased to meet the consumption needs of the region and the world , contributing positively to economic growth. The added value of this sector was 8.14%, the highest increase compared to the same period in the period 2011 - 2025.

The remaining agriculture, forestry and fishery sectors and the agricultural sector maintains stable growth, meeting domestic consumption and export demand. The added value of this sector was 3.51% over the same period last year, contributing 0.29 percentage points to the total added value of the entire economy.

In the first 6 months of the year, Vietnam estimated a trade surplus of 7.63 billion USD, lower than the same period last year (12.15 billion USD). Total trade turnover was 432 billion USD, of which exports and imports both increased by 14.4 - 17.9% over the same period last year.

In the first half of the year, 152,700 new businesses were established and returned to the market, an average of 25,500 units per month. Meanwhile, about 114,800 businesses temporarily suspended operations and withdrawn from the market, an average of 21,200 units.

The survey results on business trends in the processing and manufacturing industry group in the second quarter also showed that the number of optimistic enterprises accounted for 35.7%. The number of enterprises assess better business trends in the third quarter is expected to increase to 43%.
The average CPI in the second quarter increased by 3.31% over the same period last year. The average CPI in the first 6 months of 2025 increased by 3.27% over the same period last year, core inflation increased by 3.16%.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Director of the General Statistics Office, acknowledged that the socio-economic results in the second quarter and the first half of 2025 achieved "very positive" results. These indicators are approaching the set targets in the context of many uncertainties in the world and regional economy.

However, the economy is expected to continue to face many difficulties and challenges in the second half of the year. Therefore, she believes that achieving the growth target of over 8% by 2025 is a big challenge.

The representative of the statistical agency recommends that sectors and levels increase updating and forecasting of the situation, proactively and flexibly manage in accordance with the new situation, and control inflation. In addition, the operator also needs to diversify export markets and speed up the disbursement of public investment capital.

Along with that, the operator also needs to have preferential and competitive policies, creating favorable conditions to attract large, high-tech projects, strategic investors, and multinational corporations to invest, set up headquarters, and establish research and development centers in Vietnam, according to Ms. Huong.
