Dong Viet Bridge connecting Bac Ninh province with Hai Phong city opens to traffic

The Dong Viet bridge and the approach road in Canh Thuy ward and Dong Viet commune, Bac Ninh province (formerly Bac Giang province) connecting with Hai Phong city (formerly Hai Duong province) have been completed and the entire route is open to traffic.

Dong Viet Bridge was built across the Thuong River with a length of more than 811 m, a bridge surface of 23.5 m wide. This is one of the largest cable-stayed bridges in Bac Ninh province to date. The approach road to the bridge on the Bac Ninh side is built on the scale of a class II plain road, nearly 7 km long, with a roadbed width of 22 m and a road surface of 21.5 m.

The Bac Ninh project (including the bridge and the road leading to the Bac Ninh bridge) has a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND from the provincial budget and local government bonds, with the former Bac Giang Province's Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transport and Agricultural Works as the investor.

The joint venture of Thuan An Construction and Trade Development Joint Stock Company, Trung Chinh Construction and Trade Company Limited, and 168 Vietnam Construction Investment and Import-Export Joint Stock Company constructed the project. The project started in June 2022 and has just been completed.

Dong Viet Bridge across Thuong River is one of the largest cable-stayed bridges in Bac Ninh province up to now.

On the Hai Phong side (former Hai Duong province), the Dong Viet Bridge approach road construction project connecting to National Highway 37 with a total investment of more than 469.8 billion VND was implemented, with the former Hai Duong province's Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor.

The approach road is nearly 5.3km long, passing through the communes of Hung Dao, Le Loi and Cong Hoa ward (formerly Chi Linh city), now Tran Hung Dao ward (Hai Phong city). The approach road is designed as a level II plain road, with a roadbed width of 22.5m and a speed of 80km/h.

The joint venture of the following joint stock companies: Con Son Construction Materials, Viet Hoa Construction and Trade, Thu Do Construction and Equipment, Vu Bach Construction and Trade Company Limited is the construction contractor. The project will start in 2022 and be completed in the first quarter of 2025.

The operation of Dong Viet Bridge and all the roads leading to the bridge will create convenience for people, open up great opportunities for trade, tourism and attract investment in industrial zones and clusters of Bac Ninh province and Hai Phong city. This is one of the important transport projects contributing to the realization of the orientation of transport development and inter-regional connectivity of localities.
