On August 18, at the historical site of House No. 48 Hang Ngang Street (Hoan Kiem Ward, Hanoi ), the Hanoi City Party Committee and People's Committee organized the installation of a plaque commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) for the restoration project of House No. 48 Hang Ngang, where Uncle Ho wrote the Declaration of Independence.
Attending the plaque-mounting ceremony were Politburo members: Tran Cam Tu, Standing member of the Secretariat; Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission; Nguyen Xuan Thang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.
Also attending the event were leaders of Hanoi city units and the family of patriotic capitalist Trinh Van Bo - Hoang Thi Minh Ho.
House No. 48 Hang Ngang Street is a particularly important relic in the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh .
This is where President Ho Chi Minh wrote the Declaration of Independence to read to the nation on September 2, 1945, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The house was ranked as a national historical and cultural relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in 1979.
After the success of the August Revolution, Uncle Ho returned to Hanoi from the war zone. When he returned to the inner city, the Central Committee chose House 48 Hang Ngang Street, the home of the patriotic bourgeois family Trinh Van Bo - Hoang Thi Minh Ho, for Uncle Ho to live and work, preparing for the Independence Declaration Ceremony.
Here, President Ho Chi Minh and the Central Party Standing Committee decided on many important policies on domestic and foreign affairs, on the institutions and composition of the provisional government, on the organization of the Independence Day...
It was in this house that President Ho Chi Minh wrote the Declaration of Independence giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
With its stature and contemporary ideology, the Declaration of Independence is the crystallization of the thousand-year-old traditional values of the Vietnamese people with their aspirations for independence, freedom and happiness, and at the same time contains universal values of humanity regarding human rights and the right to national self-determination.
After a period of renovation, the entire space of the house was preserved, some artifacts were restored as they were 80 years ago.
Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Bach Lien Huong said that in addition to preserving relics and artifacts about Uncle Ho, the historical space of House 48 Hang Ngang Street also applies modern Mapping technology, VR virtual reality technology, hologram technology, with deep documentary depth and high heritage education value.
This is the result of a serious process of conservation, research and innovation, demonstrating Hanoi city's commitment to innovating approaches and enhancing the work of promoting cultural heritage values in the context of digital transformation.
Recognizing the results and significance of the above project, the Hanoi People's Committee decided to put a sign on the project as a project to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
Hanoi City People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the City People's Committee to the Hanoi Monuments and Landscapes Management Board and Director of Hanoi Monuments and Landscapes Management Board Nguyen Doan Van.
On this occasion, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports opened an exhibition space about the relic House No. 48 Hang Ngang Street.
The exhibition includes many valuable visual artifacts with three themes.
Topic 1: The house at 48 Hang Ngang and the family of patriotic capitalist Trinh Van Bo-Hoang Thi Minh Ho;
Topic 2: Historical context and necessity of the Declaration of Independence;
Topic 3: The meaning of the Declaration of Independence and the journey to protect national independence.
At the program, the leaders of the Central Government and Hanoi city performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the exhibition at the 48 Hang Ngang memorial site and opened the nameplate of the project commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
