Vietnam women's football team determined to beat Thailand in third place match

VHO - Returning to training to prepare for the third-place match of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship, the Vietnamese women's team is determined to defeat Thailand as a gift for fans.

On the afternoon of August 18 in Hai Phong , the Vietnamese women's team had their final training session at the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship, preparing for the third-place match against the Thai women's team.

The coaching staff reminded the players before the training session.

Speaking before the training session, Coach Mai Duc Chung shared: “Perhaps everyone watching the match live felt quite regretful. You guys played at 150% of your strength but the opponent was too strong. Although we played better in the second half, football is like that, with high determination, it depends on many other aspects.

We still have the third place match, before the training session I also reminded the whole team to focus on activities and practice well for tomorrow's match. I hope everyone will bring their best to fight with the highest spirit to celebrate the two big holidays of the country, August 19 and September 2."

Evaluating the opponent Thailand, the team that Vietnam defeated in the group stage, coach Mai Duc Chung said that confidence is necessary but we cannot be subjective.

“That confidence is also a part, but we have to learn from the mistakes in previous matches. We have pointed out the strengths and weaknesses to you and hope that in this match we can limit mistakes to continue to win,” said the 74-year-old coach.

The players will prepare well for the third place match.

Coach Mai Duc Chung also thanked the leaders of the Party, State and fans for always accompanying women's football: "What touched us was that despite his busy schedule, the Prime Minister was still present on the field and encouraged us.

We are very grateful and would like to thank the Party and the State. The whole team promises to compete at more than 100% to be determined to win."

The third-place match between Vietnam and Thailand will take place at 4:30 p.m. on August 19 at Lach Tray Stadium (Hai Phong), followed by the final match at 8:00 p.m. between Myanmar and Australia.
