(NLDO) - The Thong Nhat train route (Saigon - Hanoi and vice versa) with 9 pairs of trains continuously operating, meets the travel needs on this vital route.
From December 16 to 29 (January 15 to 28), Vietnam Railways Corporation deployed nearly 195 trains departing from Saigon station, serving the travel needs of nearly 62,000 passengers returning home for Tet.

The train routes are Thong Nhat (Saigon - Hanoi and vice versa) with 9 pairs of trains continuously operating, meeting the travel needs on this vital route.
Regional routes including 13 pairs of trains have been increased to serve passengers traveling to provinces and cities in the Central region such as Da Nang, Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa, Quy Nhon - Binh Dinh...
During the Tet holiday (December 29 to the third day of the Lunar New Year), many pairs of trains from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang, Tam Ky, Dieu Tri, Nha Trang, Hanoi to Vinh... and vice versa will run to serve the spring travel needs of passengers. Two trains SE1 and SE4 will depart on New Year's Eve, named "Spring Train" to serve about 1,000 passengers who need to travel during this occasion.
Mr. Hoang Viet, a passenger who just booked a train ticket to Nha Trang, shared: "I booked the ticket a bit late so there were only tickets left for the morning trip. However, I still decided to take the train because the ticket price was quite reasonable compared to flying. Last year I took the plane, but this year because I booked the ticket urgently, I chose the train."
On the days before Tet, people are crowded in and out of Saigon station.
Ms. Mai, a passenger from Thanh Hoa, said: “I often take the train home during Tet. This year, I chose the 11am train and the ticket price was 2,700,000 VND. The ticket purchase procedure was very simple, without any difficulties.”
Passenger Nguyen Biet commented: “I bought the ticket online very conveniently. My ticket was a soft seat ticket, priced at 1,333,000 VND. I found the service here quite good, the staff were enthusiastic, and the seating arrangements were very good. The price this year compared to last year has not increased much, only around 100,000 VND, very reasonable.”
Saigon Railway Station said the average ticket price increased slightly from 1% to 5% compared to the same period last year, depending on the route and type of train. During Tet, about 4,500 passengers left Saigon Railway Station every day, with peak days reaching up to 7,000.
