Line Da - young female soldier on big festival day

In the formation of more than 16,000 soldiers participating in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 (mission A80), Chhắc Phol Line Đa - 1 of 2 female soldiers of the Provincial Military Command was honored to participate in this important event.

Belonging to the Political Department of the Military Command of An Giang province (before the merger), soldier Chhắc Phol Line Đa, from Tri Tôn commune, joined the army in February 2024. After completing the training for new soldiers at the Military School of Military Region 7, Line Đa returned to work at her new unit. Joy after joy when she became a part of the sacred A80. “I started training on April 6, of which the first 2 months were spent at Brigade 270, Military Region 5. On June 6, I trained at the National Military Training Center 4. The biggest difficulty was the high training intensity and harsh weather: Sometimes the heat lasted for a long time, and it rained suddenly. In addition, keeping the formation in order and making precise movements in time also required a lot of concentration and patience,” said Line Đa.

Besides the difficulties in training, Ms. Line Da also had to adapt to a concentrated lifestyle. Diet and rest had to follow the rules. Sometimes, homesickness had to give way to short, tiring sleep. The great motivation that helped her overcome was the pride of participating in a major event of the Fatherland, and the camaraderie of comrades and teammates always standing side by side.

Ms. Line Da said that during the course of her mission, she learned many valuable things. First of all, the spirit of discipline and perseverance helped her overcome fatigue and difficulties. Besides, she also learned solidarity and sharing in the group, when everyone worked together for the common goal. “More importantly, I feel more love and pride when I can contribute to this special and meaningful event. If I have the opportunity, I am always ready to accept the task, because it is an opportunity for me to continue to train, contribute and mature in the military environment,” Ms. Line Da expressed.

The story of Chhắc Phol Line Đa, this Khmer girl, has never ended. We have followed her enthusiastic footsteps many times when she worked as an officer at the Children's House of Tri Tôn District (formerly). She and local youth union members enthusiastically went to collect rapid COVID-19 test samples in the community, eliminating the fear of the dangerous disease. At the peak when people from Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces returned to their locality, for more than 20 consecutive days, Ms. Line Đa and volunteers were on duty at the quarantine point, receiving people to make health declarations and doing logistics work...

When the pandemic subsided, Chhắc Phol Line Đa followed in the footsteps of her father and sister into the military. In 2024, she entered the list of “the only young female Khmer ethnic minority to join the army”. At that time, she thought simply: “I am a party member, a commune union secretary, and can completely contribute my youth to the cause of protecting the Fatherland in my own way”.

Now, female soldier Chhắc Phol Line Đa has once again shone in her assigned mission. Lieutenant Colonel Lê Văn Sáng - Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command commented: “Comrade Line Đa is a very active and enthusiastic soldier. Being selected to participate in the A80 mission is both an honor for the unit and a source of pride for her personally. We hope that you will be determined to complete the A80 mission well, contributing to the overall achievements of the Vietnam People's Army.”

During the visit to encourage officers and soldiers of the armed forces of Military Region 9 to participate in the A80 training on August 16, 2025, Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Dat - Commander of Military Region 9 and Lieutenant General Ho Van Thai - Party Secretary, Political Commissar of Military Region 9 noted: "To participate in this important event, you have made many efforts, tried hard, not afraid of the sun and rain, overcome harsh training conditions, demonstrated the bravery, image, and noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new era; focused on training with spirit, attitude, responsibility, and very good quality, contributing to spreading the image of revolutionary female soldiers".
