According to information from Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), at 5:41 p.m. on June 28, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), the Central Power Project Management Board (CPMB) in coordination with relevant units successfully energized the Thanh Hoa 500kV Transformer Station project into the connection line.

This is one of the important component projects of the 500kV line circuit 3 Quang Trach - Quynh Luu - Thanh Hoa Nam Dinh I - Pho Noi thermal power plant, helping to increase safe power transmission to the North.

This project has a total investment of about 1,444 billion VND, with EVNNPT as the investor, CPMB assigned to manage and operate the project, Power Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 3 designed and constructed, and Power Transmission Company 1 took over and operated.

The newly built 500/220kV transformer station has a scale of 3 500/220/35kV transformers, each transformer has a capacity of 600MVA, currently 2 600MVA transformers are installed. The 500kV side is designed with 10 bays including 7 line bays, 3 transformer bays and a reserve position for busbar segment bays. The 220kV side is designed according to a two-busbar diagram with a loop busbar, with a full scale of 21 bays. For the 220kV connection line, a new 04-circuit line is built from the 500kV Thanh Hoa transformer station to the connection point on the 220kV Nong Cong - Thanh Hoa lines (about 7.5 km long).

EVNNPT leaders and related units witnessed the moment of energizing the project.

Mr. Truong Huu Thanh - Deputy General Director of EVNNPT - said: Thanh Hoa 500kV transformer station has the task of increasing the power supply for the load of Thanh Hoa province and the North Central region. During the implementation process, the project encountered some challenges when handing over the site which is a large swamp with a leveling volume of nearly 459,000 m3 , urgent construction time, and erratic weather. However, with the strong direction of the Prime Minister and the participation of authorities at all levels, the problems were resolved. Up to now, the project has been completed 2 days ahead of schedule.

“For a 500kV transformer station, the construction time is usually 365 days, but the Thanh Hoa 500kV transformer station project (construction started on January 18, 2024) was completed in just 5 months and 10 days. This shows the high determination and great efforts of the leaders of EVN and EVNNPT at the construction site, with experience from previous transmission line projects, appropriate thinking and methods, shortening the time, speeding up the progress, ensuring quality, technique, aesthetics, bringing the project to the finish line according to the direction of the Prime Minister”, said EVNNPT Deputy General Director Truong Huu Thanh.

The contractor representative added that there are always over 300 officers, engineers and workers participating at the construction site. In addition to the contractor's forces, there are also forces from the transmission and power units participating in support.
