Duc Trong: Free swimming lessons for children in difficult circumstances

(LĐ online) - In order to continue effectively implementing the Safe Swimming Program and preventing drowning for children in the period of 2022 - 2030, on the afternoon of June 12, the People's Committee of Lien Hiep commune, Duc Trong district opened free swimming classes and provided free drowning prevention skills for children in difficult circumstances in the area.

This meaningful activity not only helps children improve their health but also contributes to significantly reducing drowning accidents in the community.

The program is implemented to promote the role and responsibility of all levels, sectors, families, schools and the whole society in developing the movement of teaching and learning to swim. In particular, this is an important part in the work of preventing and combating drowning, gradually reducing unfortunate accidents for children in Lien Hiep commune.

Children in difficult circumstances in Lien Hiep commune are taught swimming for free when in need.

Accordingly, all children from disadvantaged families, poor and near-poor households will be completely exempted from tuition fees for swimming courses. For other children, tuition fees will also be discounted to the maximum, from only 500,000 VND for the entire course (depending on family conditions) to support electricity, water costs and salaries for coaches. This is a practical policy, ensuring that all children have the opportunity to access swimming skills without financial barriers.

Swimming classes are held at Minh Dat Hung swimming pool (An Tinh village, Lien Hiep commune). In the first course, 40 children enthusiastically registered to participate. A course lasts from 10 to 15 days.
