Diverse activities to honor craft villages

According to Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Dinh Hoa, the 2025 International Craft Village Conservation and Development Festival, organized by Hanoi in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , aims to honor artisans, skilled workers, and typical craft villages across the country; at the same time, it is an opportunity to promote, connect markets, and expand trade promotion of Hanoi - Vietnam craft village products to international friends. The planning process has been carefully implemented since May 2025 with close coordination between the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Hanoi People's Committee. In Hanoi, many departments, branches, and the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center... have also contributed ideas to perfect the content and form of organization.

According to the plan, the 2025 International Craft Village Conservation and Development Festival will be held at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Site for 5 days, expected in November 2025, but before that, many sideline activities will be launched from September to create a vibrant festival atmosphere. Before the opening ceremony, there will be an incense offering ceremony at Kinh Thien Palace, affirming the connection between tradition and the present, between the national soul and the breath of development. The exhibition spaces will be designed according to the theme "Conservation - development - integration" with many sub-areas: Conservation space, introducing traditional techniques, ancient tools, artisans demonstrating their skills; Development space, introducing products applying modern and creative designs; International integration space, displaying handicrafts of world craft villages; OCOP space and cuisine, ornamental plants, art stage and craft village photo exchange area. Vice President of the Vietnam Handicraft Export Association Le Ba Ngoc said that Hanoi owns about 1,350 craft villages and villages with crafts. Each craft village is a precious tangible and intangible cultural value. Of which, dozens of craft villages have been known to the world such as: Bat Trang pottery, Van Phuc silk, Phu Vinh rattan and bamboo, Chuyen My mother-of-pearl inlay, Chuong conical hats, Son Dong statue carving... We need to continue to recognize and put Hanoi's craft villages in the right "scale" for development...

According to Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen, recognizing the great potential of Hanoi's craft villages, the city considers this a strategy to position the brand of Hanoi's craft villages. On the other hand, as the "locomotive" of the whole country, organizing the festival is not only for Hanoi but also to honor, promote and support the craft villages of the whole country; affirming that Vietnam is a country rich in identity, capable of deep integration in the fields of handicrafts - design - creative culture.

To achieve the set goal, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen suggested that the products participating in the festival must be carefully selected. Through the event, it is necessary to connect with export sources to reach out to the world. In addition, it is necessary to work with travel businesses to bring international visitors to Vietnamese craft villages.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Vo Van Hung said that with the spirit of connecting domestic and international craft villages, the festival is expected to be a festival for craftsmen, while demonstrating the strong commitment of the Government, ministries, sectors and Hanoi city authorities in preserving and developing rural crafts, building craft village tourism, and arousing pride and a spirit of innovation in the artisan community.

With a vision and careful preparation, the event not only contributed to arousing national pride but also created a new impetus for the sustainable development of rural industries. Hanoi once again affirmed its pioneering role, especially in innovation, bringing Vietnamese craft villages to the world.
