Bringing Can Tho University into the group of leading universities in Asia

On August 12, at the 13th Congress of Can Tho University Party Committee (term 2025 - 2030), the goal of 3 breakthroughs was set, so that by the end of the term, some training fields would be among the top universities in Asia.

With outstanding achievements in the 2020 - 2025 term, Can Tho University Party Committee has achieved and exceeded many targets. Specifically, the school's annual enrollment target reaches an average of over 100%; the number of undergraduate and master's training programs of the school meets high quality accreditation standards...

The average article publication coefficient per lecturer reached 1.56, of which articles in international journals reached 0.82. Can Tho University's budget as of December 2024 reached more than 1,000 billion VND; the average income of civil servants and employees increased by over 59% compared to the beginning of the term... In particular, the percentage of lecturers with doctoral degrees reached 58.8%, higher than the national average and in the group of 10 schools with a doctoral rate of over 50%.

During the past term, the Party Committee of Can Tho University continued to lead the school to develop according to the model of a multidisciplinary, multi-field university; striving to develop majors and majors according to international standards by 2030. Currently, the school is training in 19/24 fields listed by the Ministry of Education and Training .

The scale of undergraduate and graduate training is over 45,600 students. During the term, the school received 235 new international projects, with a total budget of 245 billion VND.

The development orientation of Can Tho University is stated in the documents of the Party Congress for the term 2025 - 2030, continuing to determine the motto of action to enhance administrative innovation and cooperation to improve the effectiveness of training, science and technology activities. The goal is to focus on high-quality training, especially in the field of pioneering and innovative technology; building an ecosystem of education and training for innovation, technology transfer and startups in Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta region.

To achieve the goal of making Can Tho University one of the top universities in Asia in a number of fields by the end of the term, the Can Tho University Party Committee has identified three breakthroughs in the new term: Strengthening the Party's fighting strength, innovating the organization and comprehensive digital transformation to streamline processes, reduce administrative procedures to improve governance efficiency towards autonomy.

Prioritize investment in developing facilities and human resources for technical and technological fields; focusing on strategic technology, core technology, pioneering technology, etc. to create new growth poles; focus on training in emerging industries/fields and promoting international training.

The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Can Tho University Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term, consisting of 27 members. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong - Chairman of the Can Tho University Council - was re-elected as Party Committee Secretary.
