With many positive effects from the title of World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago, Cat Ba tourism (Cat Hai district, Hai Phong city) is expected to welcome 4 million visitors in 2025, an increase of more than 300,000 compared to 2024.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Pham Tri Tuyen - Head of the Department of Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism of Cat Hai district said that Cat Hai currently has 313 tourist accommodation establishments with a total of 6,566 rooms and 11,806 beds. Of which, 2 tourist accommodation establishments have been recognized by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism as meeting 5-star standards, including: Perle d'Orient Cat Ba Resort Hotel and Flamingo Cat Ba Resort Hotel with over 1,000 rooms and many diverse services for visitors and vacationers on the island.
The modern cruise system operating on the bays of Cat Ba archipelago has been gradually meeting the needs of high-income tourists, especially international tourists , with 139 vehicles carrying tourists for sightseeing and overnight stay on the bay. Of these, there are 73 sightseeing ships and 66 tourist accommodation ships, equivalent to 1,216 rooms on the bay. In addition, the system of restaurant and food service establishments in the area has also been invested in and upgraded in scale and quality, with 77 food service establishments, meeting the needs of tourists when coming to Cat Ba.
In January 2025, although it was the low season for island tourism, the number of visitors to Cat Ba was still quite large, especially foreign tourists. Of the nearly 126,000 visitors, there were more than 85,000 international visitors, an increase of more than 30% over the same period in 2024. Total tourism revenue is estimated at more than 110 billion VND.
Mr. Pham Tri Tuyen shared: With many exciting and attractive activities, during the recent Lunar New Year, Cat Ba tourism welcomed nearly 28,000 visitors, including 18,000 international visitors. With many positive effects from the title of World Natural Heritage of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago, Cat Ba tourism is expected to welcome 4 million visitors in 2025, an increase of more than 300,000 compared to 2024.
In 2025, to improve the quality of tourism services, the Department of Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism of Cat Hai district has developed a plan to strengthen inspection, rectification and handling of cultural and tourism service business activities, focusing on periodic and surprise inspections of establishments.
In the first quarter of 2025, the unit will confirm the Price List Registration and sell according to the 2025 listed price for accommodation establishments, restaurants, and cruise ships, and at the same time, implement the criteria of "Safety of tourism services". To promote the value of the World Natural Heritage, Cat Hai district in particular and Hai Phong city in general will continue to strengthen the work of linking and cooperating to develop sustainable tourism, effectively exploiting routes and attractions between Ha Long Bay - Lan Ha Bay.
Hai Phong is accelerating the construction of tourism infrastructure projects in Cat Hai district with the expectation of bringing a new look to the pearl island. In 2024, the number of tourists to Cat Ba is estimated at over 3.6 million, an increase of 20.3% over the same period in 2023. Of which, international visitors are estimated at over 1 million, an increase of 90.5% over the same period. Total revenue from accommodation and catering services is estimated at VND 3,354 billion, an increase of 21.1% over the same period.
