With the strong direction of the Government and the constant efforts of ministries, branches and localities, the goal of a modern and synchronous transport network is gradually becoming a reality, creating a solid foundation for Vietnam to break through and rise strongly in the new era.
The Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress has identified strategic breakthroughs in transport infrastructure as one of the three important pillars for national development. This is not only a goal but also a command from the heart, requiring high determination from the entire political system, from the central to local levels.
According to the report of the Ministry of Construction , the whole country has 37 projects with 95 component projects under the State Steering Committee for important national projects and works, key to the transport sector (Steering Committee). Of these, 35 projects are in the road sector and 2 projects are in the aviation sector, with a total investment capital of over 1 million billion VND.
Recently, at the 19th meeting of the Steering Committee, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that the progress of the projects has clearly changed. Overcoming initial difficulties in site clearance and material sources, many projects have made breakthroughs, basically making up for the delays of previous years, even exceeding the planned progress. As a result, since the beginning of the year, the whole country has completed and put into operation 237 km of expressways, bringing the total number of expressways nationwide to 2,268 km. Along with that, Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat Airport has been put into operation, many coastal routes have also been invested and inaugurated, bringing a new look to the national transport infrastructure.

The Prime Minister said that with the groundbreaking and inauguration of major projects scheduled to take place on August 19, the whole country will have 2,476 km of expressways and 1,397 km of coastal roads. It is expected that by the end of the year, the whole country will complete and exceed the plan set by the 13th National Congress, which is to have at least 3,000 km of expressways and 1,000 km of coastal roads (possibly reaching nearly 2,000 km). Along with that, Long Thanh Airport will also be basically completed, creating momentum, creating force, creating position for the country to enter a new era, the era of connectivity and sustainable development.
The spirit of “just do it, no backtracking” has become the guiding principle for construction units across the country. Expressway projects scheduled for completion by 2025 have accelerated their implementation volume.
Typically, the North-South Eastern Expressway Project, phase 2021 - 2025 increased by VND 20,193 billion; Component Project 2 of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Project increased by VND 1,266 billion; Component Project 3 of the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway Project increased by VND 1,077 billion. Many projects are scheduled to be completed in 2026 but also strive to open routes or complete eligible sections by the end of 2025, shortening the plan by 4 - 5 months.
Some projects have seen significant increases in volume, such as Component 2 of the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway Project, which increased by more than VND 1,600 billion; Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway Project, which increased by VND 1,871 billion; and Huu Nghi - Chi Lang Project, which increased by VND 1,643 billion. These are encouraging results, demonstrating the determination of the Government to central and local ministries, branches.
We are racing to the finish line, accelerating, and breaking through with a spirit of speed and boldness, finding solutions to complete the set goals, successfully completing the strategic breakthrough in transport infrastructure according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the instructions of the General Secretary. Dak Lak province has 2 expressway projects under implementation, including: Component Project 3 of the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway Construction Project Phase 1 and the North - South Eastern Expressway Construction Project Phase 2021 - 2025. For Component Project 3 with a route length of more than 48 km, compared to the contract to be completed by the end of 2025, the project implementation volume has reached more than VND 2,577 billion (61.13%), exceeding the schedule by 2.41% (equivalent to about VND 101.8 billion). However, according to the progress commitment to the Prime Minister during the peak period of "500 days and nights competing to complete 3,000 km of expressway", the project is about 27.35% behind schedule (equivalent to VND 1,152.9 billion).
To overcome this situation, Mr. Dang Tho Dan, Head of Traffic Project Management Department, Dak Lak Province Traffic Construction Investment and Rural Development Project Management Board (investor) said: The unit has built the overall progress critical road, determined to complete the project before August 30, 2025 to compensate for the slow construction volume compared to the plan. Throughout the project, contractors have organized 41 construction teams with more than 460 equipment and nearly 770 workers working simultaneously, creating a bustling atmosphere along the entire route.

For the North-South Expressway Construction Project in the East phase 2021 - 2025, the section passing through the province has a total length of more than 90 km, passing through 11 communes and wards, with 2 component projects, by the end of July 2025, the implementation volume reached 12,465 billion VND (80% of the contract). Dak Lak province is determined to complete the Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh section component project in September 2025 and the Chi Thanh - Van Phong section component project in 2025.
Completing at least 3,000 km of expressways by the end of 2025 will create a modern transport network, reduce travel time, logistics costs, promote trade, tourism and investment. At the same time, it will help eliminate the gap between regions, bringing more equal development opportunities.
