Cai Be Commune was established on the basis of merging Cai Be Town, Dong Hoa Hiep Commune and Hoa Khanh Commune. Cai Be Commune, where a large amount of daily household waste is generated. Therefore, the work of waste collection is given special attention by Cai Be Commune People's Committee. Accordingly, the Cai Be Town area previously had 34 inner-city roads along with Cai Be Market area, which is the place where the largest amount of waste is generated.
Before the administrative merger to establish Cai Be commune, Cai Be town was responsible for collecting garbage on 7 routes, while Cai Be district collected garbage on the remaining 27 routes. After the merger, Cai Be commune still maintains these garbage collection routes. Specifically, in Dong Hoa Hiep commune (old), there are garbage collection points at An Thanh Industrial Cluster (near Thong Luu bridge), district road 74 and An Hoa hamlet (near provincial road 864), while in Hoa Khanh commune (old), centralized garbage collection points are maintained at Cai Thia (provincial road 864), Hoa Khanh market and Tra Lot bridge.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quang, Vice Chairman of Cai Be Commune People's Committee, the locality continues to use the collection plan that Cai Be District People's Committee previously signed a contract with the enterprise throughout the district until the end of 2025. Thanks to that, the waste collection work in the locality is stable and convenient. At Cai Be market, garbage collection vehicles operate twice a day, and workers are arranged to sweep and collect garbage into transfer vehicles for specialized vehicles to transport for treatment. At garbage collection points in hamlets, garbage collection teams are maintained regularly, ensuring that garbage from small roads is transported to the collection points in a timely manner, not allowing it to accumulate and pollute the environment.
In Chau Thanh commune, garbage collection has also been maintained stably after the merger. The commune People's Committee has consolidated and maintained the operation of garbage collection teams, ensuring continuous collection on hamlet roads and market areas on schedule, avoiding congestion, contributing to maintaining environmental hygiene and rural beauty.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap province, in the first 6 months of 2025, the rate of collection and treatment of urban solid waste in the whole province reached 97.15%, almost completing the target of 100% of the annual plan. The province has strengthened control of waste treatment at large landfills such as Mo Thet (Cao Lanh ward), Phu Huu (Chau Thanh commune), Tan Phu (Thanh Binh commune)... At the same time, many models of reusing domestic waste and agricultural by-products into biological products for production are also being implemented, contributing to reducing pollution and moving towards sustainable agricultural production. |
Some localities in Dong Thap province are self-sufficient in collecting household waste without going through businesses, on the basis of public works management boards of old districts, towns and cities such as in Tan Phuoc 2 commune.
Tan Phuoc 2 Commune has received a garbage collection vehicle and is responsible for collecting garbage in the commune from the former Tan Phuoc District Construction Management Board. From there, the People's Committee of Tan Phuoc 2 Commune has developed a plan to collect household waste according to regulations and established 2 garbage collection teams, each team consisting of 3 people. One team specializes in transporting garbage to Tan Lap landfill for treatment, the other team transfers garbage from small roads to large roads, bringing it to a collection point for specialized vehicles to conveniently pick up garbage for treatment.
On average, Tan Phuoc 2 commune generates about 7 tons of household waste every day, of which about 5 tons are transported to factories or landfills for treatment. Currently, the whole commune has 5 large garbage collection points. Garbage collection teams collect garbage from residential areas and households and bring it to these collection points. The collection and transportation of waste has now been basically stable, with no backlog causing environmental pollution. The People's Committee of Tan Phuoc 2 commune has assigned the commune's Public Service Center to collect household waste in the area, ensuring that there is no congestion affecting people's lives and polluting the environment.
The fact that communes maintain the organization of garbage collection teams to ensure smooth flow, avoid congestion, and deploy synchronously from inner-city roads to hamlet roads, along with the high garbage collection rate across the province, has met the needs of the people.
