At noon on July 26, the water level on the La River had decreased significantly compared to the previous two days, but still caused local flooding on roads in Tien Phong village (Duc Quang commune). Taking advantage of the water level to clean up, from early morning, people proactively cleaned their houses and rearranged their household items. This year, the flood shelters continued to be effective, helping 24 fishing households avoid floods and preserve their property in the past few days.

Ms. Cao Thi Ngai (Tien Phong village) shared: “Since the afternoon of July 24, when we heard about the flood, my family proactively raised the furniture and moved the items from the first floor to the second floor to promptly respond when the water rose. Early this morning (July 26), the water level reached its peak, causing flooding in the first floor area of about 50-60cm. However, all the items such as cabinets, beds, electrical appliances, etc. in the family were almost undamaged.”
According to Ms. Ngai, the flood-proof house built in 2022 has helped her and many households in the village feel more secure during the rainy and flood days. “Previously, working as fishermen, my family had to live on small bamboo boats. In 2022, with support from authorities at all levels, organizations, and businesses, I and 23 other households were able to build solid houses with a floor area of about 56 m2 , designed with 2 high floors" - Ms. Ngai added.

According to the households in Tien Phong village, after more than 2 years of moving to live in flood-proof houses, this is the first time a flood has occurred in July. However, thanks to raising their assets and moving livestock to safe locations, most households in the village did not suffer major material damage, and 100% of the people were safe.
“When the floodwaters rise, the entire first floor of my family will be left empty, and the belongings will be moved to the second floor, so in the past few days, all activities have continued as normal. Up to now, although the water level has decreased by about 30-40 cm compared to last night, we are still not subjective, continuing to monitor the weather to be alert to the developments of the flood,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Duong.

In the past 2 days, the Ca River flood caused the La River to rise rapidly, causing localized flooding on many roads and areas in Tien Phong village. In such circumstances, flood-proof houses continued to be effective, becoming a "lifesaver" to help people avoid floods and protect their property.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Sinh - Head of Tien Phong village (Duc Quang commune) said: “Tien Phong village has a total of 90 households with 269 people. Previously, 24 households were fishermen living on small, narrow boats. Every rainy and flood season, they had to take shelter at the houses of acquaintances, and many times their property was swept away by the flood. When moving to live in solid houses, every flood season, the 24 households feel much more secure. In addition, natural disaster prevention measures have also been implemented synchronously and effectively, ensuring the safety of people's lives."

According to Mr. Sinh, the flood situation on La River has significantly decreased by noon on July 26, and is expected to continue to decrease this afternoon and evening. However, the Party Committee and the village front work committee are still continuously monitoring the weather situation, reminding households to ensure absolute safety, and promptly deploying sanitation and cleaning plans as soon as the water recedes.
Mr. Tran Xuan Thach - Vice Chairman of Duc Quang Commune People's Committee shared: "In the past 2 days, as soon as the flood water started to rise, Duc Quang Commune quickly established working groups to inspect deeply flooded areas and promptly deployed measures to support people. By noon on July 26, the water level in the area had begun to decrease, and is expected to continue to decrease this afternoon and evening. The local government is mobilizing human resources and people to clean up and ensure environmental sanitation when the water recedes.
Through this flood, it can be seen that the flood-proof houses in Tien Phong village have maximized their effectiveness, contributing to ensuring the safety of people and property. Thanks to that, the process of supporting and implementing flood prevention measures has been smooth, minimizing damage to people and property."
