The Gac Ma Soldier Memorial Area is located in Cam Lam Commune, Khanh Hoa Province, and currently displays 156 documents about Hoang Sa - Truong Sa, Vietnam's seas and islands, and Gac Ma soldiers.
Of which, 31 relics of soldiers who died in the Gac Ma battle were donated by the martyrs' families. The Management Board has systematized all of them and numbered them so that people can easily visit.

In the letter, he wished his family good health, "... Don't worry, don't think too much about me, and I won't be returning until I leave. I'll return when I can..." More than a week after writing this letter, Lieutenant Nguyen Van Phuong died.

The memorial also preserves many other souvenirs such as the wedding photo of Lieutenant Dinh Ngoc Doanh and his wife Do Thi Ha in Cam Ranh in 1986. Lieutenant Doanh was born in 1964, from Hoa Lu, Ninh Binh , and was the Deputy Commander of Gac Ma Island - Brigade 146.
Two years after the wedding, he went to Truong Sa to perform a mission and died in the battle to protect the sovereignty of the Fatherland's sea and islands at Gac Ma on March 14, 1988. At that time, his first daughter was only 13 months old.

The cabinet also displays artifacts salvaged from the HQ-604 ship, part of the Gac Ma incident. The artifacts include pants, belts, plastic sandals, cloth bags, rice bowls, masks, pickaxes, etc., all belonging to the soldiers on the ship who died.

The underground museum space in the memorial area, where the relics of heroes and martyrs are kept; also displays many documents including books, ancient maps, images... about the history of establishing and exercising Vietnam's sovereignty over the two archipelagos of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa.

In addition to the museum preserving artifacts, the Gac Ma Soldier Memorial also has a cluster of monuments, green campus items and many other spaces.
This is one of the red addresses chosen by many agencies, units, and schools as a place to return to the source, educate about sea and island sovereignty, and love for the homeland and country.

This project was started by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on March 13, 2015 and put into operation in 2017, covering an area of over 2.5 hectares, from funds contributed by union members, workers, businesses, and people at home and abroad.
After 8 years of inauguration, over 3,000 delegations with more than 607,000 people came to the memorial site to offer incense, organize new Party members, recruit new members, and participate in activities to return to the source. Since the beginning of 2025, the memorial site has welcomed over 400 delegations with about 25,000 visitors.

In the guest book, the Prime Minister wrote: "These are examples of heroic sacrifice to protect the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland. These shining examples are always proof of heroism, adding to the glorious tradition of the Vietnamese people...".
37 years ago, on March 14, 1988, 64 soldiers of the Vietnam People's Navy laid down their lives in the deep sea to protect the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland in the East Sea. Their blood mixed with the ocean, creating an immortal monument to revolutionary heroism and love for the Fatherland's sea and islands.
