Units and enterprises learn about solutions and technologies for environmental protection at a workshop organized by the Management Board of Can Tho Export Processing and Industrial Zones.

Identifying industrial parks as the driving force for economic growth of the city, the Management Board of Can Tho Export Processing and Industrial Zones always does a good job of investment promotion and accompanies businesses in doing a good job of environmental protection in industrial parks.

Mr. Ha Trung Hieu, Head of the Department of Enterprise Management and Environmental Resources, Can Tho Export Processing Zones and Industrial Zones Management Board, said: In recent times, Can Tho Export Processing Zones and Industrial Zones Management Board has regularly disseminated, updated and disseminated new regulations and policies on environmental protection to enterprises online or in writing... to help enterprises in industrial zones promptly grasp new regulations of the law on environmental protection.

The Management Board of Can Tho Export Processing and Industrial Zones also actively guides and supports enterprises to do a good job of reporting and completing environmental protection records in accordance with current regulations; at the same time, it supports enterprises to properly implement regulations on investment in building wastewater treatment systems according to technical standards, before connecting to the centralized wastewater treatment system of industrial zones... And up to now, most enterprises in industrial zones in the city have wastewater treatment systems, ensuring that they meet the agreed connection standards before being brought to the centralized wastewater treatment plant of the industrial zone for treatment.

Along with the propaganda work, guiding enterprises to implement environmental laws, Can Tho Export Processing and Industrial Zones Management Board also organizes specialized seminars to support enterprises to connect with units specializing in providing solutions and new technologies in wastewater treatment suitable for each type of production or support enterprises to upgrade and apply process optimization measures to reduce emissions. At the same time, coordinate with functional departments of the city to organize interdisciplinary inspection teams in compliance with legal regulations on environmental protection... Thereby promptly supporting enterprises to perform well the environmental protection work in managing solid waste, hazardous waste as well as household waste collected and handed over to units with appropriate functions for treatment.

Can Tho City currently has 5 industrial parks in operation, with 255 projects, enterprises, and production facilities in various fields and industries. Of which, Tra Noc 1 and Tra Noc 2 industrial parks, Hung Phu 2 industrial park and Thot Not industrial park have centralized wastewater treatment plants, ensuring that the wastewater output of enterprises after being treated meets Column A - QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT national technical regulations on industrial wastewater before being discharged into the environment.

With the active support and accompaniment from the Management Board of Can Tho Export Processing and Industrial Zones, many enterprises in industrial parks not only strictly comply with the law on environmental protection, but also focus on investing in standard wastewater treatment systems, applying environmentally friendly production technology, minimizing waste generation... bringing economic benefits to enterprises in the context of fierce market competition, while accompanying the city towards the goal of cleaner production and circular economy.

Typically, Saigon - Mien Tay Beer Joint Stock Company, in Tra Noc 1 Industrial Park, not only invested in a systematic wastewater treatment system that meets Column A - QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT, but also invested in equipment, technology for classifying and separating sludge... which not only helps reduce the load on the factory's wastewater treatment system, but also helps reduce costs and especially can reuse some waste according to the circular economy model.

Mr. Le Dang Khoa, Director of Saigon - Western Beer Joint Stock Company, said: With the support of the Management Board of Can Tho Export Processing and Industrial Zones in environmental protection, the Company always agrees on the policy of environmental protection from leaders, managers to employees. Accordingly, from the first day of operation, the Company has invested in a systematic environmental treatment system, ensuring that it is suitable for the nature of waste generated in the production activities of the unit. Currently, the enterprise not only invests in a wastewater treatment system that meets Column A, but also equips warehouses to classify hazardous waste from ordinary waste; performs well the work of classifying waste at source and signing contracts with waste collection and solid waste treatment units... to ensure compliance with regulations. In addition, the Company also builds a green campus around the factory, to create a cool green space as well as contribute to building a green, clean environment at the workplace.

As one of the seafood exporting enterprises to demanding markets, compliance with legal regulations on environmental protection and meeting the criteria for producing green and clean products of importers is always focused on by Can Tho Seafood Import-Export Joint Stock Company (Caseamex).

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy, Caseamex's environmental officer, said: Currently, the Company has a wastewater treatment system of 1,000 m3/hour, ensuring that wastewater is treated to column B before connecting to the common system of the centralized wastewater treatment plant in the industrial park. In addition, the Company has signed a contract with a daily household waste collection unit or a unit specializing in collecting scrap and carton packaging periodically; for solid waste such as fish processing by-products, the Company has invested in a conveyor system to transport by-products from the production workshop to the collection unit's truck, ensuring compliance with the process... Not only that, the Company has also invested in a rooftop solar power system with a capacity of 1MW, both serving production needs, helping to reduce emissions to the environment, and meeting the demand for green, clean energy of importers.

Environmental protection work in industrial parks in Can Tho City has achieved remarkable results. However, in order for enterprises to truly be the driving force for the city's green and sustainable economic development, the Management Board of Can Tho Export Processing and Industrial Zones continues to promote propaganda, support and guide enterprises to effectively implement environmental protection solutions. In particular, it is important to select capable industrial park infrastructure investors to build and develop new industrial parks in the direction of green and sustainable trends; prioritize the selection of enterprises and projects with high technology and low emissions, in order to minimize negative impacts on the environment in industrial parks... Along with that, the Management Board of Can Tho Export Processing and Industrial Zones will strengthen coordination with the city's functional branches to support enterprises to effectively implement legal regulations and environmental protection measures in industrial parks.
