Vietnam U22 team shortens list ahead of 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship
After a period of professional evaluation through training sessions and two internal practice matches, the coaching staff decided to say goodbye to 8 players including: Nguyen Quang Vinh (SLNA), Nguyen Dang Duong (The Cong Viettel ), Le Dinh Long Vu (SLNA), Dinh Xuan Tien (SLNA), Nguyen Le Phat (PVF), Le Van Thuan (Dong A Thanh Hoa), Nguyen Bao Long (PVF), Dinh Quang Kiet (HAGL).
Yesterday afternoon (July 6), the group of 8 players above returned to their home clubs to prepare for the new season, while waiting for the opportunity to participate in the next training sessions, towards the 2026 U23 Asian Qualifiers as well as the 33rd SEA Games.
According to the plan, the Vietnam U22 team will continue to practice in Ba Ria Vung Tau until July 12. After that, the team will move to Tan Son Nhat to prepare for the flight to Indonesia on the morning of July 14, officially entering the journey to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.
Before departure, coach Kim Sang Sik will announce the official list of 23 players, and the team will use the name Vietnam U23 Team to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.
The tournament will take place from July 15 to 29. In the group stage, U23 Vietnam will meet U23 Laos on July 19 and U23 Cambodia on July 22. With two consecutive championships in 2022 and 2023, the U23 Vietnam team is expected to continue to successfully defend the title in the regional arena.
