The Vietnamese women's team under the leadership of coach Mai Duc Chung has arrived in Phu Tho to prepare for the qualifying round of Group E of the AFC Women's Asian Cup Australia 2026.
During the 10-day training trip in Osaka, Japan, the Vietnamese women's team won 2 matches and drew 1 match against quality "blue team" teams. Overall, the players in the team maintained stable performance and enthusiasm in training sessions as well as friendly matches, meeting the requirements set by the coaching staff.

In the Vietnamese women's team coming to Phu Tho, in addition to the presence of experienced players who created the miracle of participating in the 2023 World Cup including: Huynh Nhu, Kim Thanh, Bich Thuy, Hoang Loan, Coach Mai Duc Chung also brought along a number of young players with good skills such as: Ngoc Minh Chuyen, Nguyen Thi Kim Yen or Ho Thi Thanh Thao.
Besides, the first appearance of Vietnamese-American player Nguyen Hoang Nam Mi promises to create many new features in the playing style of the Vietnamese team in this year's tournament.
In the qualifying round of Group E of the 2026 Asian Women's Cup, the Vietnamese women's team is in the same group with the women's teams of Guam, UAE and Maldives. If they win the top spot in the group, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will get a direct ticket to Australia to attend the Final Round next year.
After the 2026 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers, the Vietnamese women's team will continue to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Championship taking place in Hai Phong and Viet Tri in August.
The Vietnamese women's team is in the same group (group A) with Thailand, Indonesia and Cambodia (taking place in Hai Phong). Group B (taking place in Viet Tri) is considered to be an equally interesting and fierce competition between opponents Philippines, Myanmar, Australia and Timor Leste. The teams will compete in a round robin to determine the top two teams in each group to advance to the semi-finals, taking place on August 16. The third-place match and the final will take place on August 19.
