The Vietnamese women's volleyball team has just won the 2023 Asian Challenge Volleyball Cup after defeating Indonesia 3-2 in the final.
Vietnam women's volleyball team rises to 49th in the world
After this championship, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team rose to 49th place in the world.
At the same time, ranked 6th in Asia, after China (5th in the world, with 344.52 points), Japan (7 - 314.92), Thailand (15 - 193.42), South Korea (33 - 117.87) and Kazakhstan (46 - 86.03).
It is worth mentioning that in just 3 days, Thanh Thuy and her teammates have risen 174 places on the world volleyball rankings.
Previously, in September 2022, Vietnam was removed from the rankings of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) because it did not participate in continental tournaments for a long time.
As of May 22, 2023, FIVB has decided to add 50 points to the teams participating in the 2023 Asian Challenge Volleyball Cup.
Together with 12 points before being removed from the ranking, Vietnam has a total of 62 points.
At the 2023 Asian Challenge Volleyball Cup, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's students were awarded 12.28 points after 6 wins.
Returning to the final match that took place on the evening of June 25, despite being rated higher than Indonesia, Thanh Thuy and her teammates were unexpectedly led 2-1 by their opponents after game 3.
But then, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team came back strongly and won the last two games to win the championship.
The 2023 Asian Challenge Championship also helped coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team win a ticket to the World Challenge Volleyball Cup.
