Vietnam U23's opponent brings 15 national team players to the 2024 U23 Asian qualifiers

On the afternoon of September 2, U23 Yemen and U23 Singapore arrived at Phu Tho Hotel to prepare for the 2024 U23 Asian qualifiers.

U23 Yemen is considered a direct competitor for the top spot with U23 Vietnam. Coach Miroslav Soukup does not have the services of Al Maroufi, Al Batool and Al AMoudi but they still have 15 national players in the squad. This shows the great determination of the West Asian team. Before that, the West Asian team had two thorough training trips in Egypt and Iraq.

Meanwhile, the main members of the U23 Singapore squad are players from the Young Lions Club. 12 players in their squad participated in the 32nd SEA Games. However, they did not call up two famous attackers, Ilhan Faldi and Khairin Nadim. The goal of coach Nasir and his team is to win a place in the final round in Qatar next year.

Vietnam U23 arrived in Phu Tho on August 31. The team has 35 players. Coach Troussier is expected to announce the list of 23 players one day before the match. The team consists of 7 players retained in the first call-up, 10 players returning after winning the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship and players who joined late due to domestic competition schedules.

U23 Singapore determined to compete for a place in the final round.

U23 Vietnam is in group C. Besides the two teams that have just arrived in Phu Tho, the remaining opponent of U23 Vietnam is U23 Guam. This team is not highly rated, it is difficult to get points from coach Troussier and his team.

U23 Vietnam will face Guam (September 6), Yemen (September 9) and Singapore (September 12). All matches will take place at Viet Tri Stadium.

The 2024 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers have 11 groups. The group winners will advance to the finals, along with the four best runners-up. Host Qatar will be given a special entry.
