She quietly took the exam and passed the entrance exam to the School of Theater and Cinema, but faced opposition from her own father. Because according to the adults' point of view, girls pursuing art are "unstable, making it difficult to plan for the future". Luckily, at that time, Tuyen Map had strong support from her mother and grandmother to continue pursuing her dream. In the early days of her career, she accepted to perform far away, receiving a meager salary of only a few million VND - even having to "make up for the loss".
