Provincial Farmers' Association visited the economic development model of farmer members from loans from the farmer support fund.
Mr. Ha Thinh Hung's family farm in Nga An commune is built according to a zero-waste circular agricultural model. With hundreds of pigs, tens of tons of waste are released into the environment each year. To handle this waste safely and hygienically, Mr. Hung's family received support from the Farmer Support Fund to build a biogas system. In addition, the fund also supported 70 million VND/1,000m2 for his family to invest in building a 4,000m2 greenhouse to produce yellow melons. Mr. Hung's family is currently producing with a rotation formula of 3 yellow melon crops/year, applying high technology. The entire area of the greenhouse is invested in installing a drip irrigation system, through an automatic control application using a smartphone. Thanks to proper care according to technical processes, each crop yields 3 tons of commercial melons/1,000m2. With an area of 4,000m2, the annual yield is nearly 50 tons of fruit, after deducting expenses, the profit is about 200 million VND. In addition to growing cantaloupe, Mr. Hung's family also experimentally planted 500m2 of milk grapes that are growing and developing well.
Taking us to visit the Luc Truc bamboo garden, Ms. Dinh Thi Le, Minh Thai village, Minh Son commune introduced: "By chance, while reading the newspaper, I learned about the Luc Truc bamboo growing model for bamboo shoots in Bac Giang province (now Bac Ninh province). Through trips to learn about bamboo growing experiences in many places, the processes of selecting varieties, planting, caring for, harvesting bamboo shoots, breeding... I carefully recorded them all. From the loan capital from the Farmers' Support Fund, I "fell in love" with Luc Truc bamboo. As expected, the tree has high economic value, grows well, has delicious bamboo shoots, and is suitable for local soil and climate conditions".
From the initial success, Ms. Le stood up to advocate for the establishment of Luc Truc Bamboo Cooperative with 10 members who regularly exchange, share experiences, support each other in terms of capital, planting techniques, care, and expand the area of Luc Truc bamboo in the locality. Up to now, the Cooperative has increased to more than 30 hectares.
To create conditions for farmers to have more resources to promote their role as the main subject, the Provincial Farmers' Association has signed 40 coordination programs with departments, agencies, branches, and enterprises; build the Project "Thanh Hoa Farmers' Association with the program of bringing enterprises to agriculture and rural areas" for the period 2020-2025. Associations at all levels in the province have focused on promoting activities to support farmers in terms of capital, knowledge, science and technology transfer, vocational training, product consumption connection, etc. Strengthening credit and accepting entrustment with the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, the Bank for Social Policies, and Loc Phat Vietnam Commercial Joint Stock Bank to lend capital to farmers to develop production and business with a total outstanding loan of over 16 trillion VND, lending to 169,811 households.
Up to now, the Provincial Farmers Support Fund has reached over 40 billion VND, currently lending to 616 households through 78 projects. In the first 6 months of the year, the fund coordinated training for 8,133 people; nearly provided 20,000 tons of fertilizer with deferred payment; trained and transferred scientific and technical advances to 220,392 people; guided the construction of 57 agricultural production models applying high technology and following high technology, associated with building value chains. Integrated programs and projects, built many green agricultural production models, applying high technology, effectively and sustainably. Directly mobilized registration and guided the construction of 77 new OCOP products. Organized 10 training courses, guided registration, completed application dossiers for evaluation and recognition of OCOP products for 879 cadres and members of excellent production and business households. Directly mobilize, advise, and guide the establishment of 226 new cooperatives, 14 cooperatives, and 74 enterprises.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Dong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, Head of the Farmers' Affairs Committee, said: "During the process of operation, farmers' association members in the province have affirmed their important role in developing the rural economy, effectively organizing and implementing the movement of farmers competing in production and good business. From the movement, more and more typical examples, new models in agriculture, rural areas, initiatives, good practices, dynamism and creativity have emerged, farmers have overcome difficulties to become legitimately rich. Farmers' lives have been stabilized, the face of the countryside has become increasingly prosperous".
In the coming time, the Provincial Farmers' Association will continue to promote its role as the main subject, the center of farmers in agricultural development, rural economy and new rural construction. Mobilize members and farmers to actively compete in production, business, association and cooperation in production according to the value chain to increase added value and food safety quality. At the same time, encourage and mobilize farmers to produce and do business well, promote the core role in production and business development, increase income, escape poverty and enrich legitimately, especially households in remote areas, ethnic minority areas. Accompany, support and guide members and farmers to develop diverse household economic models, farm economy suitable to their level and needs. Promote support for members and farmers to develop cooperation models, association with enterprises, cooperatives and farmer households to produce and do business according to the value chain...
