On July 30, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province said it had reported to the Provincial People's Committee regarding the proposal to requisition a villa in the Bao Dai palace relic as accommodation for officials.

On July 7, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Monuments Conservation Center sent a document to Khanh Ha Investment Joint Stock Company (under Ha Do Group, the investor of the Cau Da villa project) regarding the temporary requisition of 2 rooms at the Vong Nguyet villa of the Cau Da villa relic site as accommodation for a Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and an officer of the Provincial Monuments Conservation Center.

These two officials both came from Ninh Thuan province (old) to work at the administrative center in Khanh Hoa province.

After reviewing, the Provincial Monuments Conservation Center found that the above proposal was inappropriate and not in accordance with regulations. Therefore, on July 9, the Center issued an official dispatch to withdraw the above proposal.

After the press reported, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province requested the Center for Monuments Conservation to inspect and handle the matter. The Center explained and asked for lessons learned from the above proposal.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, the Center for Monuments Conservation has not asked for the opinion of the department's leaders when making the proposal. The Center for Monuments Conservation's proposal to arrange temporary accommodation for civil servants and public employees at the above-mentioned national monument area is not within its authority and is not in accordance with current legal regulations on the management and use of monuments.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province has requested the provincial Monuments Conservation Center to review and clarify the responsibilities of individuals and groups involved in the mistakes that have negatively affected public opinion.

The Cau Da villa relic was built by the French more than 100 years ago (in 1923) with the original architecture of 5 villas, intended as a place to live for foreign engineers and staff of the Marine Research Institute (now Nha Trang Institute of Oceanography).

From 1940 to 1945, King Bao Dai and Queen Nam Phuong and their family often came to this relic site for relaxation and entertainment, hence the name Bao Dai Palace.
