Foreign tourist dropped diamond ring: Rented metal detector to find it

(Dan Tri) - In addition to offering a high reward, the owner of a diamond ring that fell in a park in Hue city also rented a metal detector to search for the property.

According to Dan Tri reporters, by noon on July 31, there were no longer crowds of people gathering to search for the lost diamond ring of a foreign tourist couple in the February 3 park area, on the banks of the Huong River, Thuan Hoa ward, Hue city.

A male motorbike taxi driver said that the same morning, some people still came to the park, searched for the ring through the grass but were unsuccessful and left.

According to Hue city authorities, on the morning of July 30, Mr. Karl W. (born in 1976, New Zealand nationality) and his wife went for a walk at 3/2 Park, located on Le Loi Street, Thuan Hoa Ward.

When he arrived at the area opposite the main gate of the Hue University of Education, he took off his wedding ring and gave it to his wife to hold and continued walking. At around 9am that same day, his wife discovered that the ring was missing.

Mr. Karl W., his wife and some people around the park area searched but could not find him.

At 1:30 p.m., Thuan Hoa Ward Police received the report and sent forces to coordinate with surrounding residents to search but without results.

Mr. Karl W. then contacted to rent a metal detector from Da Nang city to Hue to search for the ring.

The tourist also offered a reward of 20 million VND to anyone who could find the lost property. The information was posted on social media and quickly attracted many people to search for it.

As Dan Tri reported, on July 30, many people in Hue city gathered at the 3/2 Park area, on the banks of the Huong River, to search for the rings of two foreign tourists that had fallen.

Many social networking sites in Hue also posted information that this is a diamond ring, worth up to 1 billion VND, and that the owner offered a high reward for the person who found it.

The incident was posted and attracted a large number of people searching. Even when it was dark, many people continued to shine lights and cut through the grass to look for lost property for tourists.

The team of workers from Hue City Green Park Center also enthusiastically helped search but so far there have been no results.
