Nearly a month ago, Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien made a miracle when he won the gold medal in the pommel horse event at the World Challenge Cup held in Bulgaria.

Coming to the Asian Championship, which gathered many top gymnasts, Xuan Thien continued to show his high performance. In the qualifying round a few days ago, he ranked last (8th) among those who won tickets to the final.

And on the final day of June 7, the Vietnamese athlete made a surprise. With a stable performance, without any mistakes, Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien scored 14,633 points, ranked third overall and won the bronze medal.

This is the first medal of the Vietnamese gymnastics team at the 2025 Asian Championship.

The gold medal went to Nariman Kurbanov (Kazakhstan) and the silver medal went to Hur Woong (South Korea).

Also on the afternoon of June 7, Nguyen Van Khanh Phong competed in the final round of the hanging rings event. This is an event in which he won silver medals twice in 2023 and 2024. However, he could not repeat his achievements from previous years when he only achieved 13,700 points, ranking 6th overall.

Sharing on Facebook, coach of the Vietnamese men's gymnastics team Truong Minh Sang said: "An excellent comeback and the first Asian medal of Xuan Thien.

In the qualifying round, Thien ranked last (8th) among the finalists. On the final day today, it was determined that if he was a little careless, he would not get a medal because the players from other countries played very well.

Fortunately, despite the great pressure, Thien remained calm, performed each movement well and surpassed the athletes ranked above in the qualifying round to win 3rd place, bringing home a valuable medal for the team and also his first medal in the Asian arena.

Khanh Phong tried very hard, trying every move. But his landing was not good so he only ranked 6th overall."

On June 8, it was Dinh Phuong Thanh's turn to participate in the final of the parallel bars event.
