Before July 1, 2025, when registering a vehicle, people in the province had to go to one of 45 registration points, mainly located in the district center, some commune and ward police points, or the Traffic Police Department. This created great pressure on the number of applications for the registration points and caused many difficulties for people, especially those in remote areas.
Since the decentralization of vehicle registration was expanded to all 65 communes and wards, vehicle registration has become much more convenient. Commune and ward police headquarters have become the closest vehicle registration points to people, helping them reduce travel distance and waiting time.
At Luong Van Tri Ward - one of the vehicle registration points with the highest number of applications in the past, the work pressure has decreased significantly. Captain Nong Lan Anh, a police officer of the ward, said: Before, we received 200 - 300 vehicle registration applications each month, and had to work at full capacity to process them. But since the beginning of July, the number of applications has decreased significantly, with only about 100 vehicles registered here. We are less pressured and people do not have to wait long.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Dong in Quang Lien 1 block, Luong Van Tri ward shared: I registered an electric motorbike for my family right at the ward, it took less than 30 minutes, the staff guided me very enthusiastically. Before, I had to wait all morning to complete the procedure. Now it is quick, convenient and saves time and money.
In fact, not only in Luong Van Tri ward, the decentralization of vehicle registration at the grassroots level is bringing about clear results in many other localities. Captain Dao Thi Hong Nhung, Bac Son Commune Police, said: From July 1st to now, we have issued registration and license plates to more than 200 vehicles. People no longer have to travel far, all procedures are done right at the commune, helping to save a lot of effort and travel costs.
According to the Traffic Police Department of the provincial police, from July 1 to now, the whole province has had nearly 600 newly registered cars and about 2,000 motorbikes. Of which, the police of communes and wards have handled more than 60% of the total number of registered vehicles.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Cao Huy, Deputy Head of the Vehicle Registration Team, Traffic Police Department, Provincial Police said: Decentralization has significantly reduced the workload at central registration points. People in the province can register at any of the 65 points.
To ensure the effectiveness of decentralization, the Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Police provided technical support, software, organized professional training for commune and ward officials and issued license plates. Thanks to careful preparation, the implementation went smoothly without any significant problems.
Decentralizing vehicle registration to the commune level is not simply a change in the location for procedures, but also a practical administrative reform step, both reducing the workload for authorities and making it convenient for people.
