Nearly 850,000 candidates registered for university admission, with a total of about 7.6 million wishes - on average, each student placed nearly 9 wishes.

According to the plan, from August 17 to 20, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) will upload the admission results of all methods to the system, conduct 6 virtual filtering rounds to produce the final results. After 5:00 p.m. on August 20, universities will begin to announce the admission scores.

Candidates are only admitted to their highest choice.

This process aims to ensure that each candidate is only admitted to one highest wish, avoiding the situation of "virtual admission" causing difficulties for candidates and schools.

According to statistics up to this point, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade leads the country in the number of candidates registering their wishes. MSc. Pham Thai Son, Director of the Admissions and Communications Center - Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, said that the number of wishes this year has increased dramatically with a total of 178,294 wishes, 2.5 times higher than in 2024.

Of these, 13,308 are first choice, 16,359 are second choice, 17,192 are third choice and more than 40,000 candidates registered for admission from choice 10 and above. "This year, the school will enroll 8,300 students. Although the number of registered wishes has reached a record, the number of candidates registering for first choice is still limited and gradually increasing in the following wishes. The school plans to announce the admission scores at 6:00 p.m. on August 20; on August 22, students will officially enroll" - MSc. Son informed.

This year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology continues to be assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training to chair the Northern admissions group with 65 participating schools. Representatives of Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that they have coordinated to update and complete the software, adjust the process and fully prepare the general technical plan for the entire system.

Training institutions will notify candidates who have passed the first round before 5:00 p.m. on August 22. Candidates will confirm their admission online on the system before 5:00 p.m. on August 30.

At the Banking Academy, the number of candidates applying for admission increased by 126% compared to 2024, of which 1/3 of candidates have international certificates. The number of applications to the University of Commerce also increased by 1.5 times compared to 2024, so the school predicts that the admission score may be higher than expected.

Similarly, the number of applications to the University of Commerce has also increased 1.5 times compared to 2024, of which more than 30,000 candidates have foreign language certificates. Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung, Deputy Head of the Communications and Admissions Department - University of Commerce, predicted that the benchmark score may be higher than expected.

Dalat University recorded about 36,000 applications, nearly 3 times higher than in 2024. Dr. Do Van Toan, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work - Dalat University, said that besides the quality of training and communication work, the reason the school received many choices from candidates was because of the good learning environment and cool local weather.

"In 2024, the school will only recruit students in the first round to meet the quota. In 2025, the school will recruit 3,000 students. With the number of applications this time, we expect many candidates to be admitted in their first choice," said Dr. Toan.

According to MSc. Nguyen Minh Tung, Head of Admissions and Student Affairs Department - Vietnam Aviation Academy, statistics show that more than 37,700 wishes have been registered to the academy. The majors with many candidates registering are aviation commerce, marketing, aviation engineering, flight operations management, airport management and exploitation, logistics... With the number of registered wishes and the enrollment target of more than 4,600 students, MSc. Tung predicts that the benchmark score may increase sharply by 4-6 points in some majors. The lowest benchmark score can be from 19.

Many schools' benchmarks will decrease.

Up to now, many universities have announced expected standard scores.

Accordingly, the University of Foreign Languages - VNU Hanoi said that the benchmark scores for majors range from 19 to 25. Majors with the highest benchmark scores, from 23 to 25, are English pedagogy and Chinese pedagogy. The benchmark scores based on the highest competency assessment test scores are predicted by the school to be 120 to 130 and 24.75 to 26.5 points based on the transcript method. Other majors are predicted to have benchmark scores ranging from 19 to 23.5.

In 2025, the total number of candidates applying to the National Economics University will increase by about 25% compared to 2024. According to Dr. Le Anh Duc, Head of the Training Management Department - National Economics University, the average score of candidates in the 5 traditional university admission groups will decrease by 0.8 - 2.1 compared to 2024, especially in groups with math and English. Therefore, the expected benchmark score will decrease by about 2 - 3 points, depending on each group of majors/training programs.

Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice President of Hanoi University, revealed that the majors expected to have high admission scores this year are Korean language, Chinese language, English language, Japanese language, information technology, marketing... These are majors with great social demand, in the past 5 years they have been in the group with the highest admission scores in the school and this year's admission scores are expected to increase or decrease by 0.5 - 1.5. Last year, the admission scores for the majors ranged from 33 - 35.8 on a scale of 40. Of which, the English language major got 35.43 points, the English language major (advanced program) got 33 points.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry recorded more than 80,000 candidates with about 160,000 wishes to register, while the enrollment target is about 10,000. The school representative predicted that the benchmark score could decrease by 0.5 - 1 and remain stable in some "hot" majors. The school will announce the benchmark score on the morning of August 21.

Great opportunity to enter non-public schools and colleges

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) has more than 30,000 candidates registered on the Ministry of Education and Training's system with a total of more than 41,500 wishes.

Representatives of some private universities in Ho Chi Minh City said that the number of candidates registering their wishes on the system is quite small, and it is likely that additional admissions will be required.

"This is quite a sad signal, because we have announced a low minimum score, recruited many combinations, and offered many scholarships to students, but it is still not enough to attract candidates to choose" - a representative of a private university expressed.

The number of candidates registering for admission on the ministry's system increased compared to last year, partly because this is the first year that colleges return to general admission.

According to education experts, at this time, if candidates want to change their wishes, they can still choose to apply directly at colleges to increase their chances of admission.
