Athletes compete in the 200m event the day after the opening ceremony.
The tournament took place from August 12-22, with the participation of 780 coaches and athletes from 19 provinces, cities and industries, including strong teams such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Can Tho, Ben Tre , Vinh Phuc...
In Canoeing, athletes competed in 97 events in 3 age groups. Of which, the U18 group (from 15-18 years old) had 32 events; the U21 group had 31 events and the U23 group had 34 events.
Male and female athletes compete in 200m, 500m and 1,000m distances in two categories: Canoe and Kayak. In addition, there are mixed events for both men and women in 500m and 1,000m distances.
In traditional rowing, athletes participate in 18 events, divided into three distances of 200m, 500m and 1,000m for men, women and mixed. Boats used include 10-rower and 20-rower types.
Mr. Tran The Thuan, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament spoke at the opening ceremony.

The tournament also helps to enhance understanding, exchange and solidarity between localities. Through the tournament, experts will conduct inspections and evaluate the quality of training and education of athletes to select forces to compete in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, and prepare training venues to host the 10th National Sports Festival in 2026.
In the coming time, Ho Chi Minh City will continue to expand and improve the quality, invest in developing the network of facilities and techniques, and propose to build a Rowing Training Center to be worthy of being a key economic center of the country and the region. This is also to meet the needs of improving physical health, contributing to the successful implementation of the goal of turning Ho Chi Minh City into a smart, modern, dynamic, creative, integrated and developed super city.
