Da Nang City has been developing some traditional markets into famous tourist destinations, attracting thousands of visitors every day such as Han Market and Con Market.
However, in this city there are still many traditional markets with favorable geographical locations and areas to develop into tourist destinations but have not received proper attention and investment, causing waste and affecting the urban landscape.
With an investment of more than 9 billion VND, the facade area and the aisles and stalls inside Han Market have been renovated to be more attractive and airy to serve tourists.
Thanks to proper attention and investment, Han market attracts thousands of tourists every day to visit and shop. This place has also become an indispensable destination for international tours when coming to Da Nang city.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh, Head of the Han Market Management Board, after being renovated, the number of visitors to the market has increased day by day, with about 4,000 visitors on normal days, and up to 10,000 visitors on holidays, events, and festivals.
Thanks to that, the business efficiency of the traders has increased significantly, the revenue has doubled compared to before. The people are very excited and proactive in building and maintaining the image of a civilized market, serving tourists attentively and happily.

At Con Market, a destination for shopping for specialty gifts and learning about the famous cuisine of Da Nang city, the traders here are supported to participate in online sales activities, livestreaming to promote their images. This method has brought practical results as more and more tourists come to this market to visit and shop.
Mr. Le Doan Than, Deputy Head of Con Market Management Board, shared that currently, stalls have built their own brands and have many regular customers buying and paying online, so business efficiency is very high.
Through training courses and brand building support from the activities of the Department of Industry and Trade, traders have become better aware of building and protecting their personal brands, thereby attracting tourists to Con Market and to their own stalls when traveling to Da Nang.
According to the plan, by 2030, Da Nang city will form a market system serving tourism with 11 selected markets, and by 2050, 2 more modern tourist markets will be formed, with their own urban identity.
These markets have the task of both providing goods and services to the people and being a special tourism product to promote trade for Da Nang.
However, there are still some traditional markets located in prime locations, close to the Han River such as Ha Than market, or markets located in areas with a large concentration of hotels serving tourists such as Phuoc My market in An Hai ward, which are not planned to become tourist markets.
Although in prime locations, due to lack of attention and investment, these markets have become shabby and deserted.

A vendor at Ha Than market said that in the past, there were a number of fresh seafood stalls selling seafood caught that day, attracting a large number of people to come here to shop.
However, when these stalls were not doing well and moved to another market, this market no longer had customers, and the stall owners had to return a lot of space.
Mr. Ho Tan Phuoc, Deputy Director of the An Hai Ward Public Service Supply Center, assessed that after merging and implementing the 2-level local government model, An Hai Ward has 4 markets in the area.
As a key ward for commerce, services and tourism, the market's locations are all in prime locations and near popular tourist destinations.
Through the survey, some markets have not had the expected number of visitors and business situation. We will review and calculate the plans and documents to propose to the competent authorities to pay attention to investing in repairing them because currently there are some markets that are degraded and shabby compared to a key tourist city.
To attract tourists to traditional markets, there needs to be attention and investment from all levels of government to create beautiful, clean landscapes, and the traders themselves need to be supported and trained to be able to retain tourists with product quality as well as service quality.
If these tourist market models are well developed, they will generate huge revenue for the people and the city, creating more urban tourism products associated with shopping./.
