Sharing more about the current difficulties of supporting industry enterprises, Ms. Truong Thi Chi Binh - General Secretary of the Vietnam Association of Supporting Industries (VASI) said that, in addition to price competition, enterprises in the industry are facing challenges from new market requirements, especially recycling requirements. Recycled plastic and steel in Vietnam are extremely uncompetitive compared to China because they cannot recover plastic from households and industries to provide input for plastic recycling enterprises.

Despite facing many difficulties, according to Ms. Binh, enterprises in the supporting industry are capable of producing a variety of products for export such as motorcycle and bicycle components; products related to electrical cabinets, automation systems; plastic; rubber; plastic and rubber toy products; wind fans, wind turbines, etc.

"Accordingly, businesses are currently in great need of trade deals that support information and experience in developed markets, developing countries or countries with similar levels to Vietnam, and connections to expand markets and create conditions for the export industry," the General Secretary of VASI suggested.

Regarding the textile and garment industry, in the first half of this year, the total export turnover of the industry is estimated at 20 billion USD, up 5% over the same period last year, with textile and garment products exported to 113 countries with the main markets being the US, EU, Korea, and Japan. Regarding the export situation of the industry in the coming time, Mr. Truong Van Cam - Vice President of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) said that the industry is implementing the goal of diversifying markets, diversifying products, increasing competitiveness and taking advantage of FTAs to promote exports. To increase textile and garment exports in the coming time, Mr. Cam suggested that Vietnamese trade offices abroad provide more support in terms of market information, policies of the host country... to guide businesses.

VITAS recommends that the Ministry of Industry and Trade promote bilateral negotiations or ASEAN and Canada to limit production stages. In addition, VITAS recommends that the Ministry of Industry and Trade as well as localities promote the implementation of Decision 1643 approving the textile and footwear development strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2035, to form large textile and garment industrial complexes and zones to be able to produce raw materials and accessories to meet the industry's export needs.
