The player nicknamed "Thai Messi" expressed his feelings about meeting Cong Phuong: "Fate creates coincidences".

Chanathip Songkrasin is in Japan with BG Pathum United (Thailand), preparing to face Kawasaki Frontale (Japan), in the group stage of the 2023 AFC Champions League. The match between BG Pathum United and Kawasaki Frontale will take place on November 7.
Kawasaki Frontale was also Chanathip Songkrasin's old team last season, right before the "Thai Messi" returned to his homeland to play for BG Pathum United.
Meanwhile, Cong Phuong is in Japan. The famous Vietnamese football player is playing for Yokohama FC in Japan.
A few years ago, Cong Phuong and Chanathip Songkrasin often clashed on the field, in the colors of the Vietnamese and Thai national teams.
However, while Chanathip Songkrasin is still a mainstay of the Thai team, Cong Phuong can no longer maintain a regular position in the Vietnamese team.
Cong Phuong is not on the Vietnamese team preparing to compete with the Philippines (November 16) and Iraq (November 21), within the framework of the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia.
Cong Phuong is rarely registered to play for Yokohama FC in Japan, which greatly affects the striker's performance.
