VnExpressVnExpress19/02/2024

VN-Index closed the first session of the week up more than 15 points, far exceeding the 1,200-point threshold, when the trio of Vingroup stocks hit the ceiling.

Stocks started the new week in the green, but investors' caution remained high as the index hovered around the psychological threshold of 1,200 points. The amplitude fluctuated slightly in the morning session as both buyers and sellers maintained an observational position.

However, in the early afternoon session, the market's driving force appeared from the trio of Vingroup stocks. VRE, VIC and VHM all increased sharply, pulling the VN-Index to widen the green. Rumors about the possibility of a capital sale at a subsidiary of Vingroup made investors focus their attention on this group. The HoSE index increased by more than 10 points after just a few minutes, closing the session up more than 15 points (1.26%) to nearly 1,225 points. 2/3 of Vingroup stocks, VIC and VRE, closed the session at the ceiling price, VHM also increased by 6.7%.

VN30-Index also increased by a similar margin, to 1,240.2 points. On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, HNX-Index and UPCOM-Index both exceeded the reference.

Today's session also extended the VN-Index's 6th consecutive increase. This index is at its highest level since September 20, 2023.

Total market liquidity reached over VND29,000 billion. Of which, liquidity on the HoSE floor accounted for over VND24,700 billion, an increase of over VND9,000 billion compared to the previous session. Foreign investors also net bought over VND137 billion today.

The index increased sharply, mostly from the Vingroup group, but the green color was not too overwhelming on the board. At the end of the session, the HoSE floor had 298 stocks increasing in price, compared to 217 stocks decreasing in price.

VHM was the stock that contributed the most to the VN-Index with more than 3 points when this code closed at nearly the ceiling price. VIC ranked second in terms of influence with 2.9 points.

In addition to Vingroup, oil and gas stocks also attracted cash flow in today's session. BSR closed up nearly 6%, PVB, OIL added more than 3%, PLX, PVC, PVD, PVS traded actively. Today is God of Wealth Day, PNJ shares fell below the reference.

Some stocks in banking, retail, and construction materials groups also received attention. On the contrary, most real estate stocks were in the red.
