Deputy Consul General of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City Christopher Scholl had an interview with Dong Nai Newspaper about this issue.
Will continue to implement the PAM Program
Hello, the German Career Orientation Bus Program has just been held at 2 colleges in Dong Nai and has been well received by students. Will this activity continue to be held in the following years? If you cannot participate directly in the program, through which information channels can young people proactively find information about vocational training and labor migration to Germany?
- After the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations Program ends, the Career Coach will continue to operate in Vietnam, especially within the framework of the PAM Program (Partnership Mechanism Program for Promoting Vocational Education and Development-Oriented Labor Migration), to provide information at schools and vocational training schools about opportunities to study, learn a trade or work in Germany.
In addition, German Career Fairs are regularly held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, where people can directly access information. More conveniently, those interested can follow the Facebook pages of the German Consulate General and Embassy, which regularly provide the latest updates on career opportunities in Germany and other necessary information, such as visa application procedures.
The PAM program was first implemented at Lilama 2 International Technology College (Long Thanh district) with 50 students, 11 of whom went to work in Germany, the rest worked for German enterprises in Dong Nai. Will this program continue to be implemented in the coming years and expand to the College of Mechanics and Irrigation (Trang Bom district) to give more young people access to the opportunity to go to Germany, sir?
- The PAM program is designed to be implemented over a long period of time, for many years. This means that every year there will be new opportunities to participate in vocational training according to German standards, after which you can find a well-paid job in Vietnam or Germany.
In the future, the programme will be extended to more vocational schools in Vietnam. Funding for the expansion of the programme, including from the European Union, has been secured, pending final approval from the Vietnamese authorities. The fundamental objective of the PAM Programme is to build long-term sustainable development structures in Vietnam, so that Vietnam, Germany and Europe can all benefit from a highly skilled workforce.
How do you evaluate the coordination of the German Career Orientation Bus Program in Dong Nai? What are your expectations and beliefs about the cooperation between the two sides in the coming time?
- The German Consulate General is very grateful for the excellent support from the Dong Nai provincial government for German companies and organizations. This was clearly demonstrated in the preparation of the German Career Guide Bus at the College of Mechanics and Irrigation and Lilama 2 International Technology College.
We are very optimistic about the future cooperation with Dong Nai province. For foreign enterprises and investors, besides skilled labor, sustainable renewable energy and infrastructure, a favorable legal and administrative framework is also extremely important. We highly appreciate the efforts of the authorities in Dong Nai to create the most favorable conditions and speed up approval procedures for enterprises.
The biggest challenge for Vietnamese workers is still the German language, which is a necessary condition not only for good integration in work, but also in daily life. Therefore, investing time to learn German well is very worthwhile.
The German Consulate General is therefore confident that the cooperative relationship with Dong Nai will continue to develop strongly in the future. Besides the economy, other key areas will include: dual-standard vocational training, sustainable development, and renewable energy.
Candidates receive a training allowance and do not have to pay a recruitment fee.
Could you tell us about Germany's current demand for immigrant labor? What do you think about the labor capacity of young Vietnamese people after being trained according to German standards? In addition, how do German businesses respond when approaching these workers?
- In 2024, Germany will be the third largest economy in the world, after the US and China. However, Germany's population is aging, so the demand for young workers is huge, opening up great opportunities for Vietnamese people to develop their careers in Germany. Feedback on Vietnamese students and workers is very positive, especially in terms of professional skills and diligence, Vietnamese people can completely compete with Germans.
You said that you know many companies that promise to go to Germany with high income but they can not do it. In fact, many young people want to have the opportunity to go to Germany, so can you briefly introduce some official, fair and safe ways to go to Germany?
- To protect Vietnamese candidates from unreliable intermediaries, we always advise you to find information on the official German Government websites about job opportunities in Germany.
The most important thing is: in principle, in Germany, the recruiting company pays the recruitment costs, not the applicant. Apprentices in Germany receive an apprenticeship allowance and do not have to pay any fees, including brokerage fees for finding an apprenticeship.
In addition, studying at public universities in Germany is basically tuition-free, with only a small semester fee to be paid.
Important information, applicants can find in Vietnamese or English at websites such as: www.make-it-in-germany.com, www.study-in-germany.com , or on the joint website of the German Embassy and Consulate General at www.vietnam.diplo.de.
What support programs does the German Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City have for students to access training programs and legally migrate to Germany?
- The German Consulate General regularly updates important information and the latest events on its Facebook page for students who want to develop their careers in Germany. In addition, the German Job Fair is held regularly in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, where young people can directly learn information from the booths of German businesses and organizations.
You can also get free advice from our organisations: Goethe-Institut (for learning German, integration and career guidance), the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK - for training and employment), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD - for university studies) and on the websites of the Embassy and Consulate General for visa applications. Further information can be found at: www.make-it-in-germany.com, www.study-in-germany.com.
Thank you!
