Looking back at the entire historical process of gaining independence for the Vietnamese people, researcher Enzo believes that President Ho Chi Minh made the important decision to establish the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army, the predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army, on December 22, 1944. The name "People's Army" was chosen by President Ho Chi Minh , meaning an army "from the people, for the people".
According to researcher Enzo, although President Ho Chi Minh did not witness the unification of Vietnam, his spirit and valuable lessons still live on, leading the Vietnam People's Army to continue the fight against the US. He affirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh both played a central role in Vietnam's struggle for independence.
Referring to the role and contribution of the Vietnam People's Army in humanitarian missions and peacekeeping forces of the United Nations (UN), researcher Enzo assessed that Vietnam actively participates in UN peacekeeping operations. According to him, the Vietnam People's Army plays an important role in restoring peace and order in some of the most unstable regions in the world, including Abyei, South Sudan, the Central African Republic, as well as the Department of Peace Operations at the UN headquarters in New York.
Mr. Enzo highlighted the remarkable point that the number of Vietnamese women participating in UN peacekeeping forces accounts for more than 20%. The participation of women in UN peacekeeping operations is essential because female soldiers can be role models and strong mentors and supporters for local women who have been and are suffering from violence and conflict. In addition, the presence of women allows peacekeeping operations to better reach local people to distribute UN humanitarian aid.
Mr. Enzo affirmed that in the context of fragile peace in the above regions, as one of the main contributors to the UN peacekeeping mission, Vietnam has become a model for the international community in contributing more to international humanitarian missions and is a testament to how a developing country can support less developed countries in “sowing the seeds of peace”.
