On the evening of January 9, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, a leader of Thai Thuy District Police said that the Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economic Crimes, and Smuggling (C03) - Ministry of Public Security is still conducting a search of the headquarters of Hai Ha Waterway Transport Company Limited (abbreviated as Hai Ha Company - address at house number 132, residential group number 6, Diem Dien Town, Thai Thuy District).
"Today, we only conducted a search and seized some documents of this company for investigation, no prosecution has been initiated yet," he added.
According to sources, the search of Hai Ha Waterway Transport Company Limited may be completed tonight (January 9).
It is known that the search of Hai Ha Company took place from early afternoon on January 9 and was not completed until late evening of the same day. "Because this company has many branches, the authorities will conduct searches at all branches of the company, and the search is expected to be completed tonight," the source said.
According to Thanh Nien 's investigation, Hai Ha Company was established on September 8, 2003, the representative is Ms. Tran Tuyet Mai (62 years old, living at the same company address).
On August 24, 2023, the Thai Binh Provincial Tax Department issued a public announcement of taxpayers owing taxes and other revenues to the state budget, as of July 31, 2023. Accordingly, Hai Ha Company owes more than VND 1,736 billion in taxes (mainly Environmental Protection Tax that consumers have paid to the state budget through the purchase of gasoline and oil from this unit), topping the list of organizations, businesses, and individuals owing taxes in Thai Binh.
On September 16, 2023, the Thai Binh Provincial Tax Department sent a notice to the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Public Security regarding the temporary suspension of exit for Ms. Tran Tuyet Mai due to tax debt issues.
According to the notice, the reason for the temporary suspension of exit is that this enterprise is being forced to execute an administrative decision on tax management and has not fulfilled its tax payment obligations. The temporary suspension of exit is from August 30, 2023 until Hai Ha Company fulfills its tax obligations.
It is known that on the afternoon of January 4, the Government Inspectorate announced the Conclusion of the inspection of compliance with policies and laws in State management of petroleum.
The conclusion notice clearly stated the request to transfer the case file to the Ministry of Public Security for consideration and handling according to legal regulations for 3 cases. 1 of the 3 cases is "Illegal acts in declaring and paying environmental protection tax on gasoline; using the Price Stabilization Fund for the wrong purpose of price stabilization at Hai Ha Waterway Transport Company Limited".
